When it finally arrived I was happy to see the box was in great shape with no damage of any kind from shipping. I brought the hood to a local body shop with a reputaion of excellent work and customer service, and who Ive used in the past. When we opened the box the bodyshop immediately stated the hood was the worst aftermarket hood they had ever laid eyes on. The ram air mesh grills were loose and damaged, fiberglass was unfinished in many places, edges were not smooth, and even the flat areas needed lots of finish work.
I contacted Bodykits.com and informed them of the issues and emailed them pictures. After 2 more weeks of ignoring me they responded by saying these were typical issues and I was warned when I ordered it that It would need work before it could be installed. At this time the hood was untouched and they refused to refund my money or return the part.
Frustrated at the extra work and money it would take which I did not have, my son offered to pitch in to the $750 quote to fix all the issues and paint the hood. This is on top of the price of the hood and shipping. Assuming the hood would actually fit, the body shop spent 2 days block sanding, finishing edges, repairing the damaged/loose mesh grills ect. The hood was then primed and painted. Upset with the expense and experience I was excited to get the hood finally installed after 2 months of waiting and financial hell.
We arrived at the body shop and they attempted to bolt on the hood to the factory hinges which we were told would be no problem. NOTHING lined up and the pin in front did not align with the latch assembly. The corners at the back of the hood were rubbing against the fenders and would not clear. Even when we removed the hinges the hood was warped and would not follow the body lines of the fenders. In place the hood sits a full inch higher than the fenders and you can see into the engine compartment. The body shop said it was a nightmare and must have been formed in a hurry or from a bad mold. There is nothing that could be done to make it fit (or even close) so the factory hood needed to be re-installed.
Once again I called Bodykits.com and told them of the issues. Once again the salesmen did not seem to care and brushed me off. He now was saying the hood could not be returned because we had altered and painted it. KEEP IN MIND these are all the things they told me was needed to be done for it to fit in the first place!!! I now have a $1300 hood that does not fit hanging on the wall in my garage. My son is out $300 of his hard earned money and he still does not have a christmas present. My experience with Bodykits.com has truely been the worst online purchase Ive ever had. Since then Ive read other reports of similar experiences with this company, always with the same outcome.
BODYKITS.COM is a RIPOFF AND SELLS JUNK HOODS!!! NO MATTER WHAT YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK.....
