4-1-11 I decided to join Bodyshape fitness. I was really excited because the gym was very convenient and easy to get to and I had siblings who worked out there as well. I spoke with Alan about 1 reservation i had about joining. That reservation was guest policy, at my previous gym I paid less money and had unlimited guests. I asked Alan if I could bring my girlfriend from time to time. Alan didn't hesitate and said of course he made a notation in the agreement and in the computer system so there was never any question when I brought her in.

About 1 week later I brought my girlfriend in to workout and at the front desk I was given some static from Tony (co-owner). He said " It was ok today but only a few times that is it!" I expressed to Tony that is not what I signed up for. He replied "we will have to talk to Alan and he would get back with me." About a week went by and no one came to me with what they decided upon so I decided to call Alan. [continued below]....
..... I called his mobile number on his business card he handed me and when i called it said " the Cricket number you called is no longer valid." So I called Body Shape directly and asked for Alan. I spoke with Alan and asked him for clarification on what I signed up for, and I wanted to make sure we were on the same page. He said he would have to talk to the owner and call me back. Alan Called me back a few hours and said that they have decided to Cancel my Membership!!! I was astonished! I asked him for a reason why and Alan stumbled all over the place with really now direct answer saying " we are a private gym and reserve the right to cancel anyones membership for any reason!" In the background you could hear Tony coaching Alan through the call! Then Alan said " That the decision was Jerry's (other co-Owner) and that he was crediting my card as we speak!" I asked to speak with Jerry and Alan said that Jerry just left.

I then placed another phone call later in the day to reason with Alan, and Jerry and see if there was a reason for this seemingly unjust action and I that call ended with me even more confused of what led to the unreasonable action!

Later that day I was beginning to think that something fishy was going on and I wanted to talk to Jerry in person so I drove into the office to speak with Jerry. I walked in and Jerry was at the front counter and I politely asked if I could speak with him for a minute and he obliged. We sat down and briefly discussed the incident that led to me being thrown out of the gym and he seemed very rattled about the situation. I also observed Alan nervously watching from a distance like he got some amusement from the situation. I asked Jerry if he was aware of what happened and his reply was  " your an unhappy customers and we don't want unhappy customers here" I then replied what better way to ensure your customers happiness other than listening to them when they have a concern. He looked at me like I had 5 heads! I explained to him the disconnect and it seemed like he was just cought on the fact that some people come into the gym and not paying. He said that " if that kind of stuff continues he will have to shut the doors." I explained to him that I Understood that concern and that was never my intention. I told Jerry that I just voiced a reservation I had and I wasn't offered any alternative solutions he just agreed and put it in the membership. If he would have explained that he couldn't do it and offer me a solution they possibly would have another member! He seemed like he understood and we began to be on the same page and he said he was going to talk to Tony about reinstating my membership, and that I would hear back from Tony in the morning.

The following day I didn't hear anything so I decided to call Tony and see what the conclusion was. Tony said he talked to Jerry and said he didn't really know what was going on because he wasn't there the day before even though I heard him in the background on the phone the day before but none the less! He said he would talk to Alan and have him get back with me. At this point I can honestly say I was about to give up I have never been through this kind of runaround! But this place was just too convenient and I enjoyed it because my siblings were there I felt it was worth the fight.

Again without surprise as the day fell into the late afternoon no phone call from Alan. I called in and Alan picked up the phone and I obviously cought him off guard and I asked him if he has an update and he said that he decided that I can come in under one condition I behave my self. I asked him if I ever not behaved my self and he said " well just from this point forward!" Well I was really confused but decided to agree and I was content with the decision. But I only come in the gym in the mornings and no one is there but Tony, and his workout partner. I just was astonished that they thought I misbehaved. But I think they meant that coming to them with an issue...

A week goes by and I get my Bank statement and realize there is several transactions from Body Shape on my Account. I was scared to say anything to Tony, Jerry, or even Alan because I thought they would cancel my membership again lol! I approched Tony and he again seemed like he was cought off guard and mumbled around and flashed a reciept saying it was credited and taken care of. I just let it go at that.

Two weeks went by with no credit and I approached Tony a second time and he said "I showed you the receipt!" I said well Tony my bank hasn't have any record of the transaction. I then asked him if his bank showed the credit?" Tony replied " What bank I showed you the reciept, I would change banks! You know how banks are!!!" So I decided to leave it at that and give it a few more days.

Another week went by and not once did Tony, Jerry, or Alan approach me to make sure that my account was credited. I had to dispute the charges through my bank to get the money back.

On 5/26/2011 I decided to approach Tony again and let him know I was cancelling my membership. He said "ok you have to fill out a form and handed me the form" I filled out the form and told him that I wanted the paperwork with my credit card information on it with me. He said that he would shred it and I said NO I want to take it with me. Tony said he wouldnt give it to me he would take care of it by shredding it. I said Tony with the problems I have had with my card that is unacceptable if we need to I'll call the Police to assist in this matter. That seemed to throw Tony in a tailspin he then grabbed my paper work and ripped it in half in front of me and threw it in the shredder! Other things were transferred at that time saying that is why he never wanted me here cuz i was negative and I bring these problems to the gym. And I just told him I was coming to him with a concern and he is the owner and it is his job to deal with complaints and provide customer service and he began twisting the conversation around saying i wanted to turn his forms into the police etc...

The moral of my story is that the people at this Gym are incapable of normal conversation, and customer service. I would highly recommend to any future client looking to join the facility to do it with the utmost caution! They do keep the gym in great condition and it is very clean! and Very convenient. In my opinion it is a shame that it is being ran by these people!
