I spent over $200 buying the HTC One android smartphone from Boost Mobile's website at www.boostmobile.com.  I was very cautious to make sure there was a moneyback guarantee since $200 is a lot of money to me and since online purchases of this type are somethimes prone to damage during shipping.  The 14-day return guarantee was enough for me to place the order.

I've had the phone exactly one week and now there are 2 major issues; a hairline crack on the screen and the phone sometimes only works while on speaker (I can't hold to to my ear and speak privately).  I called yesterday and after 30 minutes of runaround, here are the 3 options I'm faced with.  One, return the phone and wait up to 3 weeks to get my money back.  Two, wait for corporate to preliminarily approve a replacement, at which point I ship the phone back for them to review and decide whether a replacement should be issued (again), at which point hope they ship out a replacement, at which point find myself having been without a phone for 10 to 14 days (best case scenario).  Or three, file an insurance claim using the new handset insurance I added a week ago when I first activated it, which of course, has a $100 deductible.

So basically, Boost Mobile has no interest in taking care of their customers.  And to them, a 14-day moneyback guarantee is a far cry from adequate customer service.

If you intend on buying a new phone, DON'T do it through www.boostmobile.com!  Pay the extra money and buy it from a store; and you might want to avoid Boost entirely because obviously their concept of customer service probably extends to their actual store locations as well.

It's Too Bad...

AUTHOR: Caring Consumer - ()

that Boost Mobile refuses to achnowledge the possibility that a screen crack could accur during shipping.  Well it did.  I disputed the charge and actually won!  How cool is that?

Sounds like you dropped your phone and cracked the screen. Now trying to blame it on shipping.

Nope...

AUTHOR: Caring Consumer - ()

The phone was in a case and never dropped.  When it arrived on 12/17 I noticed a tiny little sparkle (for lack of a better term) in the lower right portion of the screen; it seemed to be a little scratch.  I let it pass since I got the phone on promotional pricing, just chalked it ap as a "whatever."  Now I see that it was likely a partial crack and just happened to spread.  As far as the phone only working while on "speaker phone" setting, crack or no crack, this is the worst part.  It's basically unusable unless I want the world to hear my conversations.

So "no," you're wrong about your assessment.

Your problem...

AUTHOR: Tyg - ()

Your problem is not that they will not honor their money back guarentee. Its the hairline crack on the screen. They will never take back a phone that has been damaged BY the consumer. PERIOD!!!! Sure you can post and complain, but it will not change the FACT that there is damage to the screen. When you ALSO factor in that the money back starts WHEN you order your phone. NOT when you recieve it, that can skew your time table.

No company will ever willingly take back product damaged by the consumer. Its always against policy to do so. When the phone was shipped to you it more then likely DID NOT have these issues. It was only during YOUR use of it that it became this way. THAT is not Boosts fault. THAT is on you and you alone. I suspect that the phone was dropped a few times as I have only seen and heard of that type of damage happening from either a short drop, rooting your phone, or being exposed to fluids. Sometimes an app you download can and does cause hardware errors.

You might try doing a factory reset on your phone. It wont fix the broken screen. Only a replacment screen or glass will be able to do that. But the reset MAY help fix your speaker issue. If that doesnt work you only have ONE choice. You can get the $5.00 insurance through Boost, then you have to wait 45 days and then file a claim.

There is NO OTHER options besides that. My little brother has Boost but he got his at Radioshack. When he broke his phone last week, he went in and they had his phone replaced in like 10 mins. He had to buy the issurance again, but for him it was a small price to pay. Its the GS3 on Boost so its still kinda expensive. Good news was that he did NOT HAVE TO WAIT!!!!! That right there is sometimes MORE important then anything else.
