at its best!

I had been a Police Officer who was injured on the job as a result of a shooting. The incident occurred over 5 yeras ago and of course was a worker's comp. case. Well, just prior to Christmas of 2005 I had received a letter from the Boyajian Law Firm stating that I was $262.00 in debt to the emergency room physician's group that had treated me that dreadful night. I had been informed that the bill had gone to collection as the emergency room registar had entered an incorrect home address for me.

I advised the representatives from Boyajian that this was the first notice I had ever received. They explained that they have to only make "reasonable" attempts to contact me and then the bill was forwarded to collection. I checked with my employer and the worker's comp group and had the incident addressed that very same week. As anyone else would have, I obtained documentation from everyone involved that the bill waspaid and the case was completed. Not so.

I continued to received phone calls from Boyajian on an almost daily basis between 9a-10a. Speaking to these people did no good either. I informed one woman that I had begun to see my family physician and consulted an attorney as a result of the flashbacks that began recurring from these calls. SHE THEN HUNG UP ON ME.

To date, the calls continue on a daily basis. I have documentation of a Mr. V. Perry of Boyajian confirming with my worker's comp. group that the "check had probably been received" but is "lost in limbo" between the Boyajian group, and the emergency departmney physicians group. They still continue to harass me on an almost daily basis. I've done all I could to forget about the shooting and had put it in a place in my mind I seldom visit. those wounds have again been torn open and the incident relived over and over in my head with each and every phone call from the Boyajian group. I have now gotten to the point that I either lose sleep or wake up in an extreme panic from a nightmare of the shooting.

I have retained an attorney and am in the process of filing suit. They're actions are in direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. i strongly urge anyone who has had contact with this group to contact an attorney for protection and subsequently file a complaint. They have to be stopped.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

THEY MAY HAVE VIOLATED OTHER LAWS

AUTHOR: Sherri - (U.S.A.)

1. Boyajian is NOT licensed to practice law in any state other than California..he was denied a New Jersey license due to his shady activities with other collection agency/"law offices". He is a junk debt buyer and scam artist, infamous for his "Verizon bills from 1994" scam..never mind Verizon did not even exist until 2000. His people tried to get me to pay them for a visit in 2001 or so to a doctor who retired in the mid-80s (before I moved to California), died around 1990. "Deceased or not, the doctor wants his money." They are not the brightest bulbs in the lamp.

2. Even if the debt were valid, you may not legally owe it, due to (a) Statute of Limitations and (b)In most states, if an injured worker has his/her claim accepted by an insurance carrier as an industrial injury, the patient/injured worker CANNOT be billed for services. Trying to collect on a bill from an injured worker can get one in serious trouble in many places.

Send them a "cease and desist" letter, demand that they PROVE you owe it, and tell them if you do, you will deal with the original creditor. NEVER deal with a debt scavenger and never give them any information. Also, when you send the letter, do NOT hand sign it..thes people are professional liars and thieves, so don't put forgery on fake documents past them.

Being that you are in New Jersey, I would also file a police report should the harrassment continue. You can also file a suit against them for violations of the FDCPA. Turn this to YOUR advantage.

Good luck.
