The reason Brake Check is in business is that they hire people who are not techs. They hire people who used to worked at McDonalds and they train on your car. Every one who works there makes minimum wage.
Therefore, they make a lot of money doing busines this way. With that money they put TV commercials which make it seem they are professionals. These commercials bring in more customers, and they take as much money from them, and they not knowing they have a Mickey Mouse mechanic working on their car.
Here is their scheme: they lure you in with thier commercials, and sell you a basic brake job. Then they call you out for you to see that they found you need more brake work; it is always that you need to rebuild your calipers or wheel cylinders or flush your system.
Then they try to sell you front-end work, alignment and balancing your tires. After you have spent hundreds of $$ for your brakes. A brake job that should only have cost you about $100.00. John Peveto makes so much money he lives at the Dominion, where the likes of singer George Straight and basketball player David Robinson live.
Brakes are a very simple system. You don't need to be a specialist; that is why they hire Mickey Mouse or Mickey D people. But it has been lucrative to continue using this scheme.
The part I hate is that Peveto and his croones appear on TV smiling saying to you YEAH we screw our employees and our customers but so what- no one knows, and we're laughing ALL the way to the bank.
KSAT-TV 12 went under cover to see which brake shop ripped people off. Brake Check was caught tryng to sell brakes to people who did not need brakes.
My advise to you is to go to professionals like PEP BOYS, GOODYEAR and others.
