I told him battery cables were loose, he still went ahead and had his man check it and said alternator was not charging enough. Gave me a price on alternator and battery. I told Chaz I had to go home and check my finances and l'd call him. Once I was home I called him and said I decided to take the car elsewhere and if he would please put my car in the parking lot adjacent to the work area and thanked him for his trouble and apologized for his inconvenience and I'd be right over to pick up the key and have it towed away shortly thereafter.
When I arrived at Brake Masters, my car was "parked" in the line of traffic, not in a parking space, unlocked and with the key in it. I took the key out of the car, walked in the lobby and asked Chaz why he left my car where he did. His response was "We just had to get it out of our way and the alarm to the car was going off so we just cut the wires". There was grease smeared all over the drivers side headlight. People were asking me to move my car as it was blocking traffic but I couldn't.
I was very polite with Chaz and feel he didn't need to treat me with disrespect as I am 58 yrs. old with a heart condition and dealing with this on a 110 degree day. I had it towed to another shop and was told "you can't get a good alternator reading with a dead battery". I think these guys at brakemaster in surprise az are bad actors and would never recommend them to anyone. I think they were dishonest and mean-spirited.

The only sure way to know is to remove both the battery and the alternator from the vehicle and test them each individually and properly. Sometimes even that has its pitfalls. Once I had intermittent starting problem and I suspected the starter. I took it to a service outlet, the guy hooked it up, and said that the starter was OK. However, judging from the sound I heard, the starter was spinning too slowly. I replaced the starter and never had a problem after that.
The reason I'm here is because a BrakeMasters shop in Tucson screwed me over in a particularly reprehensible way. BM may have its fans, but they seem particularly adept at selecting their "victims", and seem to be overly aggressive in combating their critics. I'll be more than happy to share my experience with anyone whose interested.
