The operation mugshot sites are likely protected by the First Amendment, since the information contained on the site is public records. Mugshot sites will often charge to unpublish material from their site, and they have the right to do so. While this practice upsets those affected, it is again legal since the sites can make decisions as to which mugshots to include, and which to unpublish. Unpublishing is a major issue in the  publishing world and it doesn't start or end with one site or another (Google "Unpublish" or "Unpublishing"). This is simply the cost of living in the Information Age, when public information is readily available.

Mr. Denson,

I appreciate your transparency and you obviously have a sincere desire to provide the best representation possible for your clients. Thank you for pointing out the little spat between the so-called online reputation companies.

I recently noticed my mugshot online and was able to stand up for myself and expose some of the wrongdoing that is occuring at the expense of people who wish nothing more than to leave their pasts behind them.

I truly wish I could take back the events that lead to my mugshot ever being snapped, but I can't. I have no desire to mock or ridicule the owners of mugshot publishing websites (except for starnine) because I know they are far better at those sorts of things than I am. However, I will be confronting them on ethical issues.

Please look at this ripoff report to get an idea of where I am coming from.

THIS FALSE AND MALICIOUS REPORT WAS FILED BY KELLY JOE ELLIS USING THE FAKE NAME "JERAMY", ANOTHER VICTIM OF KELLY JOE ELLIS. SEARCH HIS NAME ON RIPOFFREPORT.

When I began helping clients remove on-line booking photographs I expected that I would come across some unsavory characters.  What I did not expect was that the real threat would be the people that claim to be on-line reputation management companies.

 This report was created by another entity that claims to be able to remove your mug shot from the internet, when in fact they cannot.

The easiest way to verify that this is not a legitimate complaint is to look at my profile on the Florida Bar Association website, http://www.floridabar.org/names.nsf/0/0DB6B1D362AF0C4485256A82007E4B8C?OpenDocument .  You will see that I am a member in good standing for over 16 years without any disciplinary history.

The report on this site by Jeramy (a fake name they took from one of my clients who challenged them) states that, "Florida Bar Association is where one would go to file a legitimate complaint on the behavior of an attorney, that's where we are going next."

As you can see from my profile at the Florida Bar, they did not file any complaint with the Florida Bar.

I do not like these shaming websites anymore than you do. I have always believed that the ability to put your past behind you is key in the rehabilitative process and a vital part of humanity. I believe in forgive and forget.  For years I have helped people seal or expunge isolated mistakes and move forward in work and life.

Unlike other sites where you cannot find out who is behind them, and if you can find out you cannot determine if they have any credibility, I do not hide behind any corporate shield or obscured internet domain.  My professionalism can be verified.
