My company paid Kevin Goude of budget heating and air of Conway SC to add freon gas to an HVAC system. The technician "Chris Owens" called me after the unauthorized fixing two small leaks in the copper line going to the unit. He explained that my bill would now be over $400.00 for his 2 hrs of work if he gased up the system.

I called his office and spoke to the owner, Kevin Goude. Kevin assured me that even though the bill was high, the work came with a two yr. warranty. Reluctantly, I paid him via check by phone a whopping $438.00.

My tenant let me know that it worked for 2 days! Either they missed a leak or their technician's solder job sprang a leak. Either way, all the gas that I purchased had left the system in 2 days time!

I contacted Kevin Goude and asked him to go back out to the site and fix the HVAC for the second time. He assured me that he could fix the problem for another $438.00. Upon asking him about my 2 yr. warranty, Kevin said that he believed a different system valve "one located right next to the one they had replaced" had leaked and that it wouldn't be covered by my warranty.
After telling Kevin the job should have been done right the First time, he hung up on me!

I payed that company $85.00 just to show up, $160.00 for the gas that leaked out 2 days later, and $193.05 for two hrs. of work!

The least I expected was for them to stand behind their work!

If I had them mail me a bill instead of paying them by phone, then they may of done the right thing...but that shouldn't have mattered!!!

Carelessly releasing that much gas into the atmosphere shoud be an E.P.A. fine in itself!!

Nothing makes us happier than providing our customers with the peace of mind that their families will be comfortable in their homes and their business will not be interrupted with HVAC-related breakdowns.

Budget Heating & Air Inc, has been serving Horry County and surrounding areas since 1989. We take great pride in providing residential and commercial customers with sales, service, installation, and warranty on high quality heating & air conditioing.  It is our policy to strive to keep all of our customers happy as our BBB rating will show.  That is why it is so unfortunate that we were not given the opportunity to resolve this matter with the listed customer.

On March 8, 2007 we were contacted by homeowner, Ms. Sarvis to repair her air conditioning system.  Upon arrival she informed our Service Technician that Mr. Woodruff was the person who would be handling payment for this repair because she had purchased the home from him and this was a repair that he had agreed to take care of because it was an on going issue before she purchased the home.  Our technician then began to diagnose the problem and found that there were (2) two holes in the line set that needed to be repaired.  Mr. Woodruff was not in the area so before proceeding with this repair our technicianthen contacted him to verify that he would be handling payment for this repair.  Mr. Woodruff thought the repair charges were too high so our technician explained to him that the charges were directly from his Flat Rate Service Book.  Our technician then contacted Kevin our Service Manager and asked him to speak with Mr. Woodruff to try and explain the charges.  After speaking to Kevin, Mr. Woodruff agreed to proceed with the repairs at the price quoted, he gave Kevin his credit card number to process in the full amount of $438.05.  He then repaired both holes and flushed and vacuumed them to assure there were no more holes in the lines at this time, he then filled the unit with Freon.  Josh checked the system and verified that it was cooling successfully.

On March 20, 2007, 12 days later we responded to another request for someone to come and check the system because it had stopped cooling.  Since this was a home we had recently been to our Service Manager, Kevin went along with another Service Technician to verify that it was not one of the leaks that had already been repaired.  However he found a 3rd hole had developed in the line set.  Kevin called Mr. Woodruff to explain the situation; he immediately began to make accusations that our Technician was incompetent and had apparently not done it right the first time.  Kevin tried to explain to Mr. Woodruff that since this is an older system these kinds of problems can not be predicted nor prevented.  Kevin explained to him that there would be a charge per leak anyway, but Mr. Woodruff refused to accept these charges therefore our Technicians left the site.

There are several emails from Mr. Woodruff to our office that clearly state that he did receive the service that he paid for.  He just felt like we should give him the second call for free although it was a totally separate incident.
