After 18 hours of driving some 1081 miles we returned the truck on time to the Budget Truck Rental located in Auburn, CA. This is also known as a Beacon gas station and ALLCARE Packing Supplies.
Not only was the agent there rude and discourteous, but he also tried to say that we had not filled the truck up with gas when, in fact, we had stopped not 2 miles prior and filled the tank up. We refused to let the agent force this gas issue and he completed the transaction and gave us a receipt with a $0.00 balance on it which we signed for.
Now, nearly 3 weeks later, we receive our credit card statement and there is a $50.00 charge on it from Budget Rental Denver, CO.
The truck was returned on time, with a full tank of gas and the transaction was closed the moment the receipt was signed. Even if the company were charging us for extra mileage, we only drove 188 miles over the original contract miles ( which the agent in Arizona agreed to wave and allow us UNLIMITED miles ) and at $0.20 per mile this still only comes out to $37.20.
Bottom line is, THIS BUSINESS TRANSACTION WAS CLOSED and it is against the law to make UNAUTHORIZED credit card transactions. We were never notified or contacted in any way.
These companies....both Budget Truck Rental and ALLCARE PACKING are guilty of using our credit card without out permission. Something WILL be done to remedy this outrage.
The general public is tired of "grabbing our ankles" for this type of practice.
