My report started when I logged onto Buy.com to order christmas gifts. I found what I wanted on Buy.com and I went to order it. I was trying to use my Paypal buyer credit to pay for the items. Well I was told by an e-mail that my order would not be compleated because the shipping address was not valid. Which I understood because I just moved. I went to Paypal.com and found out that the only way to change my address on my account is to add a credit card to my account to prove that was my address. So I added my Debit/ Credit card to the account. I thought it was a good idea at the time but now I think otherwise.
Well after I added my Debit/Credit card to the paypal account I resubmitted the order on buy.com and everything went through. Until two days after I ordered the items from buy.com. I look at my bank account and see that there is a charge from paypal for the amount of the items that I bought from buy.com. But wait didnt i use Paypal buyer credit to buy the items from buy.com. Not according to paypal support.
So, I call paypal support and I talk with someone about the situation. They put me on hold to look up the account and to see what happend. So after five minutes they come back online and tell me that it was my fault that the money was taken out of my bank account insted of my paypal buyer credit. That when I was ordering that I hit the back button and somehow didnt choose paypal buyer credit when I finished the order. But that shouldnt matter because my account was setup through paypal buyer credit not paypal.
So then paypal support tells me that there is nothing they can do because the money has alreay been taken out. They tell me to call Buy.com support and see what they can do. So, I call buy.com support and I am on hold for 30 mins (I watched the clock) before anyone answered. Then they look up my case and order number and tell me that since they went through paypal to take the money that I would have to go through paypal to get a refund.
Already extreamly pissed off I call paypal back. The tell me that buy.com is wrong and that they are the ones that have to issue the refund. Paypal tells me that I need to call buy.com back and make them issue the refund because that is the only option left. So, I hang up with paypal and call buy.com.
Again on hold with buy.com for 30 mins until someone finally answers. Then they tell me that they cannot give a refund because I have already receved the items. I tell them that I have receved one of the items but not both. Then the lady tells me hold please. So I hold for 15 mins this time and she comes back and tells me that if I refuse the item when it comes in from ups then they will refund the amount that the item cost. I ask when I will receve my refund and the lady told me 24 to 48 hours.
I still have not receved my refund and I have already sent the item back to them. So, the point to this story is watch what you do before you order anything from buy.com or paypal because they do not care if you make a mistake and they have no way of fixing it. If I owned those companies I could think of plenty of ways to fix issues like this. Maybe send the money back faster or answer the phone faster. But no, So, insted of being a good business and trying to keep business they decide to push me around and lose my business. good job buy.com and paypal.
I hope whoever reads this will learn from my mistake and not order anything from buy.com or paypal. I know that I cannot shut them down but what they did was wrong and I want everyone to know about what horrible customer support they have.
