My husband and I rent an apartment off of Artes st. in Gulfport MS through C2C real estate company. The property is great for the price and we have decent neighbors, the only problem is that we keep receiving these outrageous bills from property management for "late fees" which are 10% of our rent, when C2C set up an automatic payment with my husbands MYPAY, through the military. (This is basically like setting up an automatic draft through a bank account, the company gets paid on the same date each month for whatever amount is decided on by the company and military service member) Well my husband and I had this issue back in June of this year and went into the housing authority on base as well as into the C2C office off of Pass rd. In Gulfport MS. From what we were told, the company had put the wrong amount on our lease for a lesser amount, which would make you think that this is the COMPANIES' mistake and that we should not have to pay for their mess up; WRONG, they still required us to pay the "late fees" for every month that we didn't pay the FULL amount of rent.
So my husband set up the correct amount to be drafted from his MYPAY, plus a little extra each month to put towards the over $600 in fees we had incurred; which was agreed to by C2C. Well as of this month, we are still getting notices on our door stating "you have 3 days to pay or quit" and the bill is coming from the first month we moved in, even though we have set up a payment arrangment that C2C had agreed on. On top of these ridiculous fees, we have a toilet in our apartment that constantly clogs whether you put toilet paper in it or not. The first time we called maintenance to come fix this problem, it took them a week and a half to come out (fortunately we have another toilet). When they finally came out, it took all of 2 minutes for them to unclog it and they left. We then received a bill (about 2 months later) that stated we owed $40 for maintenance having to come unclog our toilet and also stated that there were feminine products that had clogged the toilet; nice try maintenance, IM PREGNANT!
We have had them come out a second time and they charged $30 this time just to unclog the toilet. I do understand that our lease states that renters are totally responsible for their plumbing, but the problem is not with us, it's the toilet! We never have issues with our other one, its just the one in our master bedroom that must be plunged after each use (regardless of whether or not toilet paper is even used). If it weren't for the fact that we are expecting our baby within the next month, we would have already moved because of this company; they are very rude when you go in and speak to management in person and personally do not care whether they are in the wrong in any situation, they just try to find ways to get more money from their tenants. I would think twice if you or someone you know is considering renting from this agency because more than likely, you/them will be paying a lot more than the monthly rent, each month.
