Car Fax, on 06-15-12 i paid $49.99 for up to 5 CARFAX reports, currently i have used one (1) of the  five (5) searches that i paid for; today, (10-16-12) i attempted to log-in to pull a report on another vehicle i am purchasing and i recieved the "YOUR ACCOUNT IS NOT ACTIVE" jargin. After reading the fine print i realized that accounts go "INNACTIVE" after 60 days and you (CARFAX) want another $49.99 to "RE-APPLY" in order to pull reports, which, mind you i have already paid for! Your services are mis-leading and dishonest.

Why not allow consumers to use the products they have paid for? Does this not seem fair?

DO NOT pay for this service, ask your dealer or person selling the vehicle to supply you with this crappy service, allow them to pay for you.

Misleading name

AUTHOR: Addi - ()

Car Fax understood when they named the package "Unlimited" it would cause confusion and they would prosper. If they wanted to be honest they would have named it "60 Day" package. Don't be nieve.

The agreement says you can get up to 5 reports within 60 days...

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

Here's just below a large arrow and immediately below their order form:

Make sure you read our Customer Agreement before you ask us to process your order.I agree to pay a one-time charge of $49.99 (USD) plus applicable sales tax in the following states: CT, DC, HI, NJ, NM, NY, SC, SD, TX, WA and WV, according to my card issuer agreement. This 5 CARFAX Reports Plan is valid for 60 days from the date of purchase, and is intended for my personal use only.

Guess you didn't comprehend this...No Ripoff here.
The subscription expires after 60 days, just like the agreement says.

"Why not allow consumers to use the products they have paid for? Does this not seem fair?"

That sounds good, except it's NOT what YOU agreed to when you signed up...right?

No, I DON'T work for them, never have.

Are you kidding me?

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (USA)

I get tired of reading reports that are not actually ripoffs, but are simply the whinings of people who can't be bothered to read what they sign up for.   This one is a no brainer.

When you sign up, there is a big black arrow next to the "Buy Now" button.  Above  this big black arrow is the following text :

" By processing my order, I agree to the terms of the Customer Agreement "

Immediately to the right of that arrow is the following text :

" Make sure you read our Customer Agreement before you ask us to process your order. "

The big black arrow points to the agreement, in which the following text is plainly visible (i.e. no scrolling required) :

"  This 5 CARFAX Reports Plan is valid for 60 days from the date of purchase "

What exactly does this company have to do to make the terms clear to you?    If you flatly refuse to bother looking at what you're signing up for, I hardly see how this company is at fault.   Their website makes every effort to get you to look at the terms, but it can't overcome willful ignorance.
