After receiving a boading pass for caribbean cruise line I called the 1800 number. I was told that my bank submitted my name because I pay my bills on time. (WARNING 1)I was then pressured into giving them my credit card number. They told me that the credit card company would be on the phone as well to verify that this was not a scam. (WARNING 2).
When questioning wheather this was a scam I was told that the post office is not allowed to let scams go through if it has a first class postage stamp(WARNING 3). They wanted me to pay 996.00 for the extended stay, along with 118.00 port fees. (huh?).
After doing research on this company I found your web site. Thank you.

AUTHOR: Mortgage? Where is it.... - (USA)

The captain call is to sell a timeshare.  The cruise offer is a inexpensive way to market the timeshare. There are several companies involved.  They are very evasive to not being caught.  When you are contacted and if you do not go through the prompts, you will not get to speak to a person. Once you do speak, they will not tell you where they are located.  They tell you to go to a website and you must enter the phone number they contacted you on and then a zipcode.

Several days later they will contact you and then  they will be aggressive to get you to pay port taxes while you are on the phone. According to this site http://www.800helpfla.com/travel_text.html  for a free trip, they cannot charge you anything but the price to deliver the prize to you.  Play their game.  If you do not know who they are, you can go through the prompts and you will receive a phone call in about 72 hours.

The bad thing is once you fill out the info on the website (it  makes it  harder to trace and helps them avoid them being caught. ) (Remember you going through these steps means you are interested and probably do not know the laws) countless telemarketers will be calling you.   You have to go through several steps to get to find out who they are.    When they contact the majority of people, they are violating federal and state law by using an autodialer and robo calling. This annoyance has spread as far as Canada.

There are several class action lawsuits pending against the main parties involved (timeshare company and cruise line).  A bit of research on Google you can find out who they are. Type Political survey disguised..   They have another survey that ask if you are a homeowner (for alarm system sales), age(to see if you are old enough to take the cruise) , education level, own a septic, if you are diabetic or know of one (diabetic supply sales), and others.  You are entitled to compensation for each violation and I know some are called multiple times.  Take action to stop the illegal calls.
