BUYER BEWARE , THESE GUYS SLAM CONTRACTS. WE WERE CONTACTED BY CBEYOND TO UPGRADE OUR BLACKBERRY FOR 2 YRS WHICH WE AGREED TO NO PROBLEM. THE REP NEVER TOLD US SHE WAS ALSO RENEWING OUR MAIN LINES AS WELL. OUR CONTRACT WAS COMING UP -MAIN LINES IN 2 MONTHS, THEY BASICALLY TRICKED US INTO THINKING IT WAS JUST MOBIL. THEY SENT US A MOBIL AGREEMENT THAT DID NOT HAVE LANGUAGE ON THERE ABOUT MAIN LINES, HOWEVER THEY REFERENCED OUR ORIGINAL CONTRACT SIGNED OVER 3 YRS EARLIER...VERY SLICK . WE HAVE TALKED TO NUMEROUS PEOPLE AND THEY CONTINUE TO PUSH FOR MORE YRS TO ADD PAIN TO INSULT.

WE ARE NOT DONE WITH THEM YET, I WILL ASSURE YOU ...THE NEXT STEP IS BBB , FCC , AND MORE OF THIS OUT THERE TO HELP OTHERS NOT DO THE SAME THING WE DID. BAD BUSINESS CBEYOND , DON'T KEEP SCAMMING GOOD PEOPLE . THEIR REPS ARE SCAMMERS, THEY WILL TELL YOU OR IN OUR CASE "NOT' TELL YOU UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE

BEWARE ---Axxx(((REDACTED))) IS CHEAPER TOO FOLKS

It is not buyer beware, just ask questions.!

AUTHOR: James Davidson - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, August 21, 2009

I renewed my agreement with Cbeyond and asked tons of questions about how the renewal works and how each product is priced and then made sure everything matched.  I feel as a business owner this was MY responsibility not Cbeyond's.  I knew that since the cellular phones i have from them is an add on I asked about keeping them without having my business lines signed up and it is not possible. They explained it is an add on to their core package.  That made sense to me and seems to make sense to tens of thousands of customers nationwide.

Also, I looked up the definition of "slamming" as per the FCC and it is defined as "fraudulantly transferring service without the customer's knowledge."  It also notes that this is typically a term used in the "residential consumer" segment.

As far as "scamming good people", that is a very broad statement and in my opinion is not justified.  I would understand if you said this was your opinion.  Since this entire letter your wrote is simply that, "your opinion."  Don't assume that the entire city of Houston needs you to speak for us, we do not, I assure you of that.  I do just fine speaking for myself and my own business.

I fully believe (and this is my opinion) that remarks from un informed people seem to fall on deaf ears, most of the time.  When a person makes long drawn out statements that say the same over and over again, with grammitical errors none the less, people dismiss that as someone who has nothing better to do with their time but complain.

I would advise to make your issues or concerns known to the corporate office or local branch office and see where you get.  I have done both and was not fully satisfied the first time, so i thought, but, after thinking about their responses more I became more understanding. I then communicated with my sales rep and expressed my concerns.  I have since recommended Cbeyond to other local business owners and they have found the service to be satisfactory, as far as I know.

So, if i could offer a bit of advice, and i will make this quick because i spent more time responding that i wanted to, call your sales rep, ask the questions you need answers to and give the company a chance to make it right.  As a consumer that is all we should ask for.  Just make it right...

thanks for listening everyone.

Thanx you!

Thank you Houston for your comments on CBeyond. These people won't leave me alone and they are sooooo pushy! They don't see the "no solicitor" sign on the front door and they just barge in.

We were slammed from a company called Preferred Long Distance and we recently switched back. I've learned my lesson regarding these companies.

Thank you again!
