1st assignment, deposit the check to my account, then withdraw $1,960 +$180 for fees then go to the nearest Western Union & transfer the $1,960 to either ALEX PATTERSON or KERRY WALKER.
Problem - if you go to an ATM the ATM machine doesn't know it is a POST DATED CHECK and not all tellers catch this. You could potentially deposit the $, withdraw the necessary funds for the transfer and THEN find out the check is no good and you are held responsible.
Checked with my bank today and these letters have gone out nationwide and the bank says "DON'T CASH THEM AND DON'T CONTACT CITY MARKET RESEARCH - THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A SCAM!!"
