When we purchased a home ini Southfork Mobile Home Community, AKA CMH Parks, Inc, we were told that we would pay a lease every month. I understood that to be fair but I did not understand why it was going to go up every year.

I was told we could do what we wanted with the property such as planting flowers shrubs. I asked about a Greenhouse (small) and possibly a Spa or Hot Tub. I was told that would be fine.

I looked at the papers and asked about the 2 sentence paragraph that says you have to get permission from them. I asked if I could have it in writing to confirm what they told me about the Greenhouse and Spa or Hot Tub. they informed me that it would be ok and I did not need anything in writing. I took them at their word.

After moving in we discovered that the entire underpinning was faulty and needed to be replaced. They said they were not responsible for this and we should have gone under the Mobile Home and checked it out. I asked them how we could have done this when they assurred us it would be perfect. Then the window in the kitchen broke and had to be replaced. They said that they would take care of this at no charge. It took them from May 1 2007 to June 18 2007 before they replaced it.

On June 7 2007 my husband started the Greenhouse. The Assistant Manager lives directly across the street and the Manager drives by here at least once a day. The maintence people have been over here and asked what it was going to be we told them.

They asked if they could also use the Greenhouse and I said sure. Everyone including the Management people said nothing about having to ask them for permission. Then all of a sudden on June 21 2007 a man who said he worked for the Community told us we would have to tear it down. He stated that we could only plant flowers etc. and nothing else on the property.

I called the Manager and she said it we put one up then everybody else would want one. I asked what the problem was because I informed them when we purchased the Home of our intentions. She said well she did not remember it. I again questioned her as to why someone did not say anything sooner than on completion.

She said no one noticed. I told her that it was hard to miss. I informed her about the maintenance personnell and the fact she drove by and her Assistant live across the street and had been over several times.
She said that she had not really paid any attention.

I assurred her that we would not be taking it down and she said she would send over someone who would. I advised her that this would be tresspassing and she said the land belonged to CMH Parks Inc and not us.

I fell like we were lied to from the beginning and they are coming up with anything to create bad feelings. The gentleman across the street on the corner, said he had to wait for 4 months before they decided to let him place large rocks around the edge of his property so no one could turn the corner and drive into his property.

I am very disappointed. I am a senior citizen and have a Hoveround Electric chair. This property is worse than an appartment complex with placement of speed bumps. They are all different sizes and approxtimately 50 feet apart. they are all in need of fixing to make even.

I intend to contact the City of Wylie to detemine who is responsible for this problem. I have had close calls when I go down the street with the speed bumps. I have come close several times to turning over.

I am going to report this to the Federal Government on Americans With Disabilities. They are in charge of streets, curbs and speed bumps.

I will not let this problem go away.

How did it work out?

AUTHOR: Grandmaluvsbabees - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 23, 2013

Wondering how all this worked out for you so many years ago?  I also lived at SouthforK MHP during the 90s, and what a horrible experience it was.  I truly believe they are in the business of selling people mobile homes with promises and promises, then not keeping the promises, then for instance when our AC went out and we spent hundreds and they still couldn't fix it, they are hoping we will move out, take a loss, and they can sell the mobile home the next sucker that comes along.  This is my opinion, I have no proof that they do this.  We lost alot of money living there, it was a huge money pit, and to this day I will never again purchase any mobile home anywhere.

CMH Parks/Home Southfork Mobile Home Community

AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 04, 2007

I had filed a report in July 2007. I had to call the Corporate offices in Tennessee. I talked to a person by the name of David. He advised me to try and settle the problem with Macie the Manager. I advised him things had gone from bad to worse for his company. I took over 400 digital pictures of the streets and speed bumps of this community. I told this person that I had sent a certified letter to the manager, Macie, and that I had just mailed one to him. I offerred to send by email an attachment with the pictures. He did not seem too interested in my problem. I told him that I had forwarded to the American With Disabilities section of the Federal Government. I told him I go places in my Hoveround Electric chair.
I also reminded him that his corporation was responsible for the upkeep and not the city of Wylie Texas. I also informed him that there were covers that were off of water meters. I informed him that with everypicture I took I had with me a tape measure on the height and length and width of all the potholes and speed bumps.

I then informed him that I had talked to 2 TV stations that do investigative reports on problems of consumers. These conservations took place the 23rd and 25th of July 2007. They were very impressed with the pictures that I had taken. They said that they would look into the matter and get back in touch with me.
I heard from them on August 1 2007 and was informed that corporate and Macie the manager said they would get back with them. On August 2 2007 I received a call from Macie who said that David from corporate had told her to see if she could work something out with me. I told her that the only way things could get better would be for the problem to be taken care of.

Later that day I went to the Mail lock box and my Hoveround got stuck on a speed bump. I did 2 things, first, I called my husband and let him know what had happened. The next person I called was the local TV stations. Then I called Macie and told her to please send a maintenance person to lift my chair up off the speed bump. She asked me if I had intentionally done this. I informed her that I had tried to go around to the lowest point but it did not help.

I told her that if she could not send someone I would call 911. I also told her that if anything happened to my Hoveround they would be responsible for replacement. I then called Hoveround and they said they would send someone out on Monday the 6th of August. Within 10 minutes the maintenance people showed up and it took them 20 minutes to lift my Hoveround off the speed bump.

I then took pictures of my Hoveround and the speed bump. The maintenance people could not believe that I was documenting what was happening. I told them that since my legs are undependable this was very disturbing to me. I asked them if it was a relative of theirs what would they do.

By the time I got home I had a call from David of corporate telling me he and several others would be making a visit to me on the 8th of August 2007. They asked if I would put off the TV interview until I had talked to them. I advised them that one station wanted to talk to me the 13th of August 2007. I dvised I would meet with them, but they would have to come and pick me up at my residence.

I have made a disk of all the pictures to give to them. I also have the case worker with the Americans with Disabilties, I have kept a journal of each time I have talked to anyone. I have made sure to cross my T's and dot my I's.
I will let you know what happens. I do believe that this time they will leave me alone with my greenhouse and the extension of my deck.

CMH Lawsuits

AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 26, 2007

I went on the internet and found out that the parent company of CMH Parks/Homes in Maryville Tennessee has a total of 7 lawsuite against them. Several cities are suing them for false representation. The city of Arlington for over 170 million. They have one also from the State of Texas.

I love what I found out it gives me more ammunition to fight back with. I advised the Manager that I had 3 Doctors who had written letters to the effect that the Greenhouse was a theraputic outlet for me. I also advised her that Medicare said that I was entitled to a Hot Tub due to my illness. They are also sending out a letter to me that I can show to them.

I am documenting everything I do and all I talk to and the date and time with the name of the person. I found out the CEO address and telephone number of the main company. I left a message for this person on June 26 2007. I will wait until June 28 2007 then I will call back and start with this person and go down the ladder of Executives until I get an answer.

My husband said that they never should have told me I could not have this because that really gets me to thinking how I can come back against them the legal way. I have a cousin who is an Assistant DA who used to be a Judge who is giving me legal advice on how to speak and word the letters that I have sent out.

I will preserve and make sure that they listen to me. I also can call the Investigative Reporters with the various TV Stations in this area. This would seem to be right up their alley.

As I said I will not give up until I have gone from the top CEO to the Janitor if I have to. Wish me luck.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Maybe you are dealing with people who 'need to be in control'... or maybe idiots.

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, June 24, 2007

Moving might be your best option unless you can accept the situation. I doubt things will get better. You could web search "controlling personalities", "dramatic personalities", and so on.

The local road is private property, so it is unclear if the 'Federal Government' and/or 'Texas Government' have any influence. PUBLIC accomodations and public rights-of-way w/r/t streets, curbs and speed bumps would be a different matter. Check with your state gov't. Most states have official websites. If one is available to you, like Texas.gov, peruse it.

But if you do rain the goverent hounds down upon these people, they will then make you life hell, which brings us back to "Moving might be your best option unless you can accept the situation."
