I am a senior citizen. My husband died in the UK and tickets were booked, cancelled and rebooked due to circumstances. I was owed a refund by Continental Airlines and was given two PIN numbers, over the phone, by their agent and told that there was no expiry date as this was MY money and that I only needed to quote these numbers to have the refund applied to future travel.

I have recently tried to claim this refund but have been told by the airline that these numbers do not exist, that they have no validy, I should have been issued with Travel Certificates (which I was not) and in any event the refund has expired. This is nothing short of Corporate theft. How dare they steal my money.

If anyone else has had this experience please let me know, I would love to hear from you as I am not done yet with ths airline and will take this all the way to Washington if I have to. They provide millions in corporate sponsorships but refuse to refund a paltry few hundred dollars to a senior citizen? How many other people have been ripped off like this and how much is this airline making from these "expired" refunds?

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Former Reservations Agent of Continental

AUTHOR: Angie - (U.S.A.)

Dear Mrs. Senior Citizen,

I am so sorry to hear about the death of your spouse. I was let go in July from Continental due to Reduction in Force. I do know how Reservations work and maybe can give you some insight.

When you cancelled your original reservation, this reservation has a confirmation number on it. (6 digits) and this is the record that will have your pin numbers attached. It is located in the "history" part of the original reservation record. The pin number that the res agent gave you was the Electronic Travel Certs Pin numbers and they do expire in a year from the time you got them.

If you have the original ticket number (usually on credit card statement) if it starts with 005 it is Continental's ticket. Did you ask to speak to management? If you called

What you need to do, is Contact Senior Management, Margaret Halligan at 713.324.0000. She will help you and if not, can find someone who can assist you with finding your information by your credit card number, get in the history of your record or the way you paid and get the refund to you. I am sorry for your difficulties and I know that Continental is an excellent company and they try and provide a very pleasing customer service atmosphere to all their customers. Good Luck and I know you will be happy with your turnout.

A Former Continental Reservationist who cares about people.

#4 UPDATE Employee

You Sure Make A Lot Of FAKE Claims

AUTHOR: Rabbi Pedro Goldstein - (U.S.A.)

As a Rabbi, I now all about air travel.

Listen you COW - How do we KNOW your hubby died? And if he did, how do we know you didn't KILL HIM?

You bought NON REFUNDABLE tickets. NON REFUNDABLE means just what it says. PERIOD

If your husband was going to die then you shouldnt have bought the tickets in the first place. Or you could have not been such a cheap JEW and bought REFUNDABLE tickets for an additional fee.

Continental sold you and hubby a seat on a plane on a certain date and time. If he didnt bother to show up - tough shit bitch.

Have a Nice Day and remember Jesus Loves You.
