CORRECTIONAL BILLING SERVICES - GLOBAL TEL*LINK MCI/Global Tel Link Blocked Phone Calls Mobile, Alabama

This is concerning Global Tel Link Corp, and how they are getting away with their treatment of Prison families. I am not in Prison, and have never been in prison, but my son is. One of the ways we keep in touch is through the telephone. He is 350 miles away, and it is difficult to travel and see him. So we write and talk on the phone, or we did write and talk on the phone. I changed phone services, but have the same number, yet Global Tel Link is now blocking phone calls from my son. I would love to know why, but cannot speak to a live person. Each time I call there is a voice mail stating my phone number is blocked, and I should call my phone company. When I called my phone company they assured me that they have no block on collect calls.  I have called three or four 800/866 number and have yet to talk to a live person.

Yet this company is operating throughout the United States, with a monopoly on calls from Prisoners. My state, California is nearly broke, but yet they gave this company a sweetheart contract to handle all collect calls from Prisoners. Now they also have the right to make collect calls to Cell Phones.  They are not paying staff, everything is on voice mail. They do not even have an email address, to send messages to. Everything has to do with you calling them, and every time you call, they get paid. They make money from their contracts, and money from customers, especially families of prisoners. If AT&T or Verizon, or any other phone company treats us badly, we can switch companies. Why is it that only Global Tel Link Corp, has a Monopoly on Phone Calls from Inmates? Who is in charge of this company. 

I am suggesting that anyone who has had dealings with this company, complain to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), to your state Assemblymen, and State Senators. I have lodged complaints and am also sending a complaint to my Representative in Congress. Start writing and calling to complain about this company which is nothing but MCI, a company that defrauded millions of customers, before being forced out of business (and reorganizing).
