Basically, what has been happening is that QWEST customers (not sure how many) that try to call my COX installed business phone number hear a message "THIS LINE HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED OR NO LONGER IN SERVICE". I have complained many times to COX about this. Their first reaction was to have a technician take a look at it. When that did not resolve the problem, they told me that it was a QWEST problem and to deal directly with them.
COX started to look into it again after I told them that QWEST won't even talk to me since I am not their customer and that QWEST referred me back to my telephone provider. From what I am being told from Cox is that my phone number used to belong to QWEST at one time and for whatever reason, it has never been ported through to them.
COX claims to have opened a ticket for repairs with QWEST and that QWEST is refusing to resolve the issue by stating that this is a "petty" issue that can be resolved by each QWEST customer that gets that message when they try to call me. WHAT COX IS TELLING ME IS THAT EACH CUSTOMER THAT CALLS MY BUSINESS NUMBER AND GETS A DISCONNECTED MESSAGE NEEDS TO CALL QWEST DIRECTLY TO HAVE THEM PORTED THROUGH TO MY NUMBER.
How can they expect a customer to go through all that hassle to ask for an estimate from a Landscape Company?! The answer is they won't. They will call someone else. I have filed a complaint with the FCC on 7/26/08, they responded that I would need to file a complaint with the Arizona Corporation Commission. I have as of today, 8/25/08, sent them a letter with all documentation of my attempts to resolve this.
I told COX that if they cannot fix my phone number, then they need to issue me a new number and pay the cost to change the number on all my vehicles, business cards, and website. I also asked for an apology letter to be sent to the customers that I am aware of that heard this message. I wonder how many potential customers that I have lost to a competitor due to this issue. I think 6 months is plenty of time for Cox to come to a conclusion how to remedy this, but they still keep dragging me along through their process which has no end in sight. PLEASE HELP!!!
