Decided to get my CDL, and try to start a good career. Decided to go with C.R England, because i could get my CDL fast and get to work. Big Mistake. Got to the school, and was put into a very nasty hotel room. The air conditioner didnt work( it wasthe middle of July, and this was in Texas). The first two weeks it didnt dropbelow 110 degrees. There were cockroaches everywhere, and the first night I slept in that bed I got bit like none other because of the bedbugs.
The next morning we had to get up at 0500 to catch the bus to the schoolhouse, aproximately 20 miles away. We got there at 0530. The instructor didnt arrive until 0730. We then had to wait for another hour and a half until the instructor was done playing on the computer.
When class finally did start we were treated like animals. We were forced to sign a lease agreement, even though hlf of us didnt want to lease a truck. We were then forced to pay a $50 fee.
Then we were given a practice written test to see what we knew. Now ive been driving semis since I was 16, having worked on various farms and ranches. I knew the laws, and id even reserched changes in the laws. I was told that it was NOT a DOT regulation that you could only run one log. We were required to run both paper logs AND paperless logs. I knew that there was a law gainst it, so i disregarded tht information.
Two days later we went to take our written tests. I passed mine with flying colors. I knew I would. Some others that did though I was very skeptical of though. I hadnt even seen them take the test. It came out later that security at the DPS office that we had went to were so lax that they had gotten away with letting people take the test 3 or 4 tests, for other people. nothing was done about it.
Im not even gonna go into detail about the rest of the schooling. It was attrocious to say the least.
After I got my CDL, I had to wait for a week with no pay to get my trainer. The trainer i got had 6 months of experience. Within the first two weeks that I was on the truck he set off the roll sensor twice. Both times I called safety and they basically told me it wasnt their issue. Deal with it.
We got to the terminal in Burns Harbor, IN and I got off the truck and quit. I was scared for my safety not just with that particular trainer, but with their trucks as well. Now this comany is holding my hard copy of my CDL and refuse to give it to me. Because Texas takes 2 to 3 weeks to give you your hard copy we had to have it sent to the school, and they were supposed to send it to our location when they recieved it. Now I am locked in a legl battle just to get my hard copy liscence because im not a resident of Texas.
Whatever you do, avoid this company at all costs
