However, the check is invalid even if activated. BEWARE. I was fortunate enough NOT to do the assignment until I was sure that the check would clear and I have a bank that protects me from fraud. However, I did have to call my bank to find out what was going on and make sure that they didn't charge me erroneous charges. This is a scam please don't fall for it.
