As most of the people in my area did during Hurricane Sandy, we ran around feverishly to local stores to find and buy batteries. We were thrilled to find a CVS that had batteries and grabbed several packs of "CVS" Brand AAs. After the hurricane (having been without electric for a week), we were going to store some batteries in an Emergency Carton, since after all, the package says GUARANTEED GOOD EVEN AFTER 7 YEARS.
IT WAS THEN THAT WE FOUND THE MANUFACTURED DATE IN SMALL PRINT ON THE REVERSE SIDE...
2009, YES 2009... They sold 2009 batteries in 2012... that means the guaranteed life is already almost half done!!
I WENT BACK TO THE STORE AND OTHER CVS BATTERIES I CHECKED WERE DATED 2009, while Duracells were 2012.
