On may 30, 08 paid cake divas(they make celebrities cakes, been featured in Jet magazine, wedding guide and wedding channel etc) to make a Iron Man cake from a picture I personally bought in to them.

They said they can make it, paid them $230.00 (included the $80.00 deliverely fee to my 11 yr old son birthday party). 1 week later (day of party) the cake arrived 15 minutes before the party started (which I was told it will arrive 2 hours before). When I arrived there with the party group, we opened the cake to cut it and it was not the cake I paid her to make.

My son was upset, didnt eat any of the cake, and the cake didnt even look nowhere near Iron Man, it look like Tin Man. It was ugly. We cut that cake and the top of it was so hard, you could of took a knief and hit it and it did not break.

The inside of the cake was hard, like it was made about 3 days ago (and she said she makes her cake the same day and she lied). I called them and 3 days went by and they still didnt call me back and on the 4th day, I got the owner Leigh Grode and told her about that bad cake. I was so embrassed with my family, friends, coworkers there.

She asked me to bring her another picture and I drove over there and gave her another picture, she said it will be ready tomorrow and I told her just refund the money and she said she will make a new cake instead. 2 hrs pass she called back and I was sick, so she talked to my mom, asked her what type of filling I wanted in the cake and I said none, so she said "she never heard of a cake with no filling in the middle" and my mom said thats what my daughter wants, and she said she cant have the cake ready for the next day because she has a lot of celebrities to do cakes and well she will get to it next week and my mom said no and she said well " I was doing your daughter a favor by making the cake cause "I dont have to make the cake" and my mom told her "If you made it right the first time, you wouldnt have to make another one".

Leigh said well as far as she concerned she aint making another one she dont have time and she does not have to listen to this and hung the phone up in my mom face. I called her back and she hung up in my face and that was the last, I talked to her. She is a rude very unprofessional jewish owner. She has a very smart mouth on her and I guess she figured (African Americans dont have nothing). Well I took pictures of that ugly cake she delivered (for my proof for court), See I am a business owner myself and I will teach her a lesson, she cant just pop off at the mouth, hanging up in people face and think its all over cause it aint. In case you didnt know, where she is located in culver city, she is in a office space thats runed down off the street of Pico blvd.

Dont the health department have to come out and check places like that? I wanted to know how she cooking in there and its a office space. I will never recommend her to anyone.

In response to the comment on February 4, 2013, I have not comment on here since what Oct 2011. I am not Roger and you said it's very similar "talk" to me I don't think so I have nothing to do with his comments at all or his grammar. I want to know what did you mean by your comment when you said my mom shows what sort of people we are what did you mean by that,? we are honest people, you do not know me nor my mom and she only responded back to Number 10 because of what she said when I was out of town. Hey I have moved on I did not take them to court because my attorney said its going to be costing me and if they didn't show I will just been out of money for nothing and also the damage was already done , my son party came and went he will only be 11 years old one time he is now 15. I could of took it further, NAACP did not like semitic comments they heard on the recorded conversation , they were ready and I just told them to forget it, believe me they didn't want to but they told me if I ever want to go further with it give them a call so like I said I`m done with it and I will only comment on here if I find it necessary to that's it

I have been reading with interest the reports above, it does seem to me that Gina has a bit of a bee in her bonnet about Cake Diva's - I think people are fairly pissed off because you used the whole Jewish thing, which is not relevant to the story.  Your friend "the celebrity" seriously he doesn't speak very good english (or type it) and its very similar "talk" to Gina, me thinks one and the same person.  I actually don't like Leigh (never met her as a person) but I find her extremely rude on TV - she comes across as a expert, yet I have never actually seen her do anything with cakes, she appears to be on the paper side of the business and not the making side, so does that qualify her to be a judge - who knows.   Anyway hopefully you all get it sorted and if it does go to court, I hope you put something in here so we know what happens.  Good luck.

PS.  Gina's mum your comments were totally uncalled for and really shows the sort of people you are...

I am gonna respond to #10 casandra statement and what I know and what has happen to me as well. I am a well known celebrity who had has the pleasure of working with cake diva's for 6 years prior to my incident. I will give them credit there. I won't give my real name but if anybody wants to know does it matter or not but yes I am a jewish man. I have known and worked with gina for 13 years when it comes to my events. I think all the parties involved are sweet woman. In gina case, I had to speak on the subject because this just don't make no since of  what you said about her. I was on the set of ironman working at the time and gina son liked the different color pictures of ironman so I went ahead an gave him a piture of ironman flying threw the blue skies with smoke behind him. He wanted this picture to be the top of his cake for his

 party. I was the one who referred  leigh (cake diva's) to gina to call. She didn't want to use the company because she was use to hansan's but I convinced her to give you guys a try. My wife and I along with our kids attended the bday party for her son and yes its true the cake arrive 10 minutes before start of party, the cake was ice cold and it was not ironman, it look like a silver tin man it was obvious the wrong cake was delivered to gina party. Gina was embarrassed, pissed at the same time. Her son was crying, kids making fun of the cake, honey you have no ideal about that day. You have 60 guest there at the party and there whispering, talking about he cake. Some of the guest just flat out said it looked horriable and what cake company did she use. Gina just ignored them and said nothing about cake diva's. They end up getting a cake from the market around the corner. I was distrub that you called gina story "bullshit" like she lied an she simply told the truth. I don't care about you being black, leigh like a mom to you etc, that's your business, it has nothing to do with this. Gina is proud of her race and not self conscious as you stated. Maybe that's you instead. Fast forward , I witness the conversation in person between leigh, gina and gina mom. I was there in gina's office, leigh was very rude, she hung up in gina mom face while she telling her about the cake etc then gina called her back and then after leigh (semitic comments)  she hung up in gina face and wouldn't answer the phone after that.

This all could of been avoided if her money was fully refunded back, that's all she ask nothing else. Gina did not file a false report to ripoff so you need to stop it now. Don't take it to another level. My reason why I stop using cake diva's is because for my event of 400, my cake was delivered late then to top it off it was beautiful but it was filled with the wrong dam filling.  We got an apology and was offer to accept another cake but we said no because are event was over and my wife was highly pissed and she was done, this was 3 years ago now. I felt that gina was right to comment because she had not said a word about leigh, joan (who she never met nor talked to), cake diva's etc since june of 08 filing. She moved on and put it behind her. I did feel joan shouldn't had not said that gina deframe her business with false remarks and waited almost a year after to comment on it when she could of comment right away, why wait and lie?

These are 2 successful businesses, cake diva going on 10 years I believe and gina going on 17 years. Let's just end it !!! how about you, leigh, joan pot in the comment section that's it over you want comment nomore the event is in the past  and then have gina comment the same thing. What do you think about that. ? I think it's a good solution because there's been some of my friends cake you guys have messed up but they didn't file a ripoff report about it but they might come here to say what happen to them hey use gina as well and 2 of the parties attended the bday party we carpooled together so you don't need extra negative things in your file. Like I said previous I wish everybody the best of luck----  Roger

I am gina mother Ms. Brown responding back to this report since my daugher is out of town. I did inform her a few minutes ago before I write this back to you. First off my daughter did not write any false "BULLSHIT" about what your mother said to her AND ME. That is a dam lie. I can say how rude your mother was on the phone to me but i don't want to waste my breath. It's no longer a non mother fucking factor to me.  My daughter has alot of jewish clients etc never had any problems from them and they never had any from her. I was there , I heard the whole conversation between your mom and my daughter and she hung up in my face and my daughter called her back. See the whole conversation was being recorded between us. I spoke to your mother as well. The only thing she aplogize  for was delivering the wrong dam cake. Karma will come back around but bet you it want be my daughtert, it will swing your way. Far as my daughter businesses that she owns she wouldn't know what falling on hard time means because she hasn't had those problem yet in 17 years in business maybe you guys have but we don't keep up with that but who knows what the future holds. Far as "race" nobody here has race issues. I understand you taking up for your mom and this is my daughter and I'm gonna take up for her as well. My daughter and I let it go what 3 years ago, she was done with CAKE DIVA'S. The only reason you see comments on here from her is because friends of hers called her and said peope was saying all this an that about what she wrote in her letter. Anytime so you know from here on out if somebody post something negative towards my daughter she will comment or I will.  It's only fair she comments back. What's done is done, les all move on.

Hi I am Leigh's daughter who happens to be black (omg shocking for a racist person) but yes Leigh damn near adopted, fully takes care of, supports, and wait for it ...loves a black person. Crazy I know!!!! I would just like to say that race doesn't have to do with anything for Leigh Grode she loves and cares for everyone no matter what color. The fact that you would write something so false is upsetting. In fact you might be projecting some inner fears and hatred for yourself or your race or maybe your just self conscious. You also had to point out Leigh's race which only further supported that your story was bullshit. I understand your a unsatisfied customer but there's no need to lie. Both Leigh and Joan have apologized for what did happen (key word being did) and you just can't let it go. For you to be a business owner I would hope you understand karma and how it works. It will come back around and when it does I hope it doesn't get you too harshly. I'm sorry you didn't get the cake you wanted and you were embarrassed. I hope your business shines and does well in these hard times my fellow black person in the world.

Big Mouth Sharon

I saved you for last Sharon, you remind of a cross between leah and teresa of housewives of new jersey. "Big Mouths" Always talking and don't know what the hell you talking about. I did not over dramatized what I said. I told the truth and if they would of did what I ask they would not have had this report reported by me. Now the cake for your info, I was told it would be delivered between 9a-11a. My son party started at 12noon smart mouth. My mom did not get no cake 2 hours before an let it sit there on the table for show like you was trying to say. Who the h**l would want to show that tin man looking cake to anybody, it looked nothing like" ironman". That piece of cake was delieved at 10 minutes before the start of the party. When my mom opened it up while they were there she told them this is not the correct cake. They called the office to inform them, they said this was what they had. I gave them a color picture of ironman flying above the clouds with smoke behind him. They delivered a cake that look like tin man from the wizzard of oz He was silver. I was highly pissed, then they said they was sorry for delivering the wrong cake.Then I was told later that a lady called in and said the cake was beautiful of ironman (even thou that's not what she ordered),leah said they delivered her my cake by mistake.  There are alot of people that don't like filling between a cake and my son is one of them so you saying you never heard of such a thing, maybe in your mind only never heard of such a think coo coo. First off you talking about my son, you don't know nothing about him, an you should of kept my son out your mouth. I don't need to call no super nanny for my son honey my son is not spoiled and he is a straight A student for your darn information, and I bet you if that was your son you would of been hollowing your tail off. None of the guess ate the cake at the party, when you tried to cut into it was like ice, you needed a knief to chop into it. There was no moist to that cake what so ever.  You said I kept mentioning about the money, I only mention $230.00 once in the complaint. I have pictures of that cake they delivered and ripoff said they didn't need the pictures thats's why you don't see them in the report.i them do they want the conversation I recorded an they said no save it for court if I am gonna file against them. I wanted then to put the things down she said in the report so stupid like you could see what type of chick she is. You said I was a rude person by calling her a jew, well leah told me "Africian american people are always causing problems that's why I hate to work with ya". Hell an you call me rude, she said more then that. I recorded are conversation an if you heard what she was saying your darm mouth would fall open. I bet your one of those people like her sit at home all day being a housewife, spitting out those spoil rug rats kids of yours, letting them talk back to you and destroy your house and oh I forgot have the babysitters deal with them while you sit up top a hill over looking the city laying by the pool. I am a professional business woman 17 years in food and retail big mouth. So as you can see I have my proof so maybe you can shut your big fat mouth up. Here's advise for kids-- don't grow up an model after this sharon because she's uneducated, have a foul mouth, and turned out to be nothing in life but a big mouth looser with no real class friends or should I say with no friends

I am not a prejudiced personlearly leah is. I have the truth to fall back on for your information. I recorded our conversation between me and leah. Now you said stick to the facts, I did honey it was way more said then ripoff put down. What I didn't like about that was they cut out all the things Leah said to me but put down what I said about her. They left out alot in the report. I am a business owner for your information 17 years and counting. I tried to solve this before this report was even filed and they was nonresponsiv wouldn't return any phone calls etc. I video taped all the times I called them and left messages for them on there answering services. All I wanted was my money back an be done. For your info jersey girl, I don't go looking for problems, I don't have time for that. I ask ripoff did they want the picture I gave them to make for my son and the pictures of that tin man cake they bought me and they said, they didn't need them. I also ask them did they want the video tape and recorded conversation between us and they said no save it for court so you see I have all my proof and I can back it up. I will never deal with them again but I get emails from them saying they will give me a special discount if I reorder from them again, oh please give me a break.

Just came across your response to what you said. Joan I had never spoke to you, seen you in person etc. When I came in your office with my mom I saw Leah, I gave a picture of my cake I paid you guys to make, and paid you for it. You did not try to solve the problem, you ignored my phones calls and messages for 4 days. All I wanted was my money back an nothing else and you didn't want to refund it back. Far as deframe your business with semitic and false remarks that's a lie an you know it. Ripoff didn't put the entire report down they took out things that Leah said to me on the phone. Ex: You africian american people always causing problems that's why you guys hate to work with us". I called that semitic what do you call it. Your company wouldn't been reported if you just would of did what you said you would do. You only responded because ripoff sent you papers in the mail. Far as refunding my money back you only refunded some of it back after you was notified you was being sued.

While I don't agree with everything the customer said, I have had email conversations and financial dealings with Leigh Grode.  Her problem is that when she makes a mistake, she immediately takes the offensive and becomes very rude, as she did with this customer.  I know her well enough to believe that she was unprofessional, has a smart mouth, and hung up on this woman.  Also, be very wary of having any financial dealings with her.  She agreed to purchase something from me and never paid me.  I filed a formal complaint against her on Ebay and saw where she had caused problems for other people on Ebay.

Gina, I read your account of what happened with your son's birthday cake, and I only have one thing to ask you - what in the world does Leigh's religion have to do with it?  The mere fact that you mentioned it, shows me that you are a prejudiced person who doesn't have the truth to fall back on.  You should stick to facts.  Also, you say that she figured "African Americans don't have nothing".  Are you a mind-reader also?  I am a business owner, like you claim to be - if somebody has a legitimate complaint, I would bend over backwards to make my customer happy.  You don't stay in business for 10 years by treating people like you claim you were treated.  I think that maybe you were looking for a problem.  Just think of how you would feel if somebody treated you that way.

Some People can Never be satisfied!

I accidentally came across this complaint, and it just bothered me because it is SO obvious that most of it is made up by the customer, and I'm so tired of running in to adults who just can't take accountability for their actions!!!!!

After reading Gina's complaint, you can tell she has completely over-dramatized and reworked things in her favor over what truely happened!!!!! I do know that Cake Divas is a highly respected business! The owner, Leah, is a respected cake artist and judge for most of the competitions I have seen on TV. A company does not get to where they are by having issues like this customer is describing!!! Could the cake have maybe gotten a little dry? Not likely.... unless of course maybe there is a different truth... like the mom did get it 2 hours before the party and left it out uncovered for all her friends to witness how much she spent on a Cake Divas cake (which she eludes to more than once)...hmmmmm. Did the cake not look exactly like the picture she brought of Iron Man? Well first we need to see what the picture she brought in looks like to have any judge on that. Also, no cake shop, or even a grocery store bakery would sell a layered cake with no filling! Who in their right mind would order a cake with no filling? A customer who is trying to be extremely difficult, that's who! What really bothers me is that the customer has not given any proof of ANY statements actually made that refer to african americans having nothing. She assumed this herself! She does however comment herself about Leah being a "rude jewish"! It appears that she is the person who has proven to be rude. Especially with her threats to "teach her a lesson"!  Such spewing of negative and presumptuous remarks is just not needed in ANY situation! If you want to reach a solution to a problem, threats will not get you any more than loss of respect! It amazes me that this woman is a business owner - for what kind of company? Surely NOT one built on professional and respectful customer relations, I'm sure!

SO... the moral of this story kids.....

Don't use spending remorse as an excuse to attempt to trash a company's reputation in order to get your money back!!!!! It's so unlady-like and totally dishonest!!!!



Also, just food for thought Gina..... if your kid refuses to eat a cake because he doesn't like what it looks like, you might want to call Super Nanny and get control of your bratty little kid! Cake is cake! What kid doesn't eat cake no matter what it looks like? Selfish snobby little kids who have parents who give them anything they want in order to quiet them up quickly rather than raise them to be respectful and kind members of society!!!!!
