On August 3rd, 2009, I received my first call from Capital Accounts. The person on the phone, an Adam Hoff, or so he claims, informed me rudely that I owed an outstandind balance at a dentist office I had not used in over 16 months. 16 months ago, I filed my regularly scheduled cleaning with my insurance company. I got a statement about a month later that showed the insurance adjustments and owed balance, (zero dollars). I put my dental visit paperwork aside, and did not question any info, until Mr Adam Hoff called me.
His exact word to me were, and I quote, "Um...you haven't even tried to pay your bill..in like...16 months so obviously, you don't plan to pay."
I asked him why he thought that I didn't plan to pay when I did not even know I had an outstanding debt. I tried to explain to him that I hadn't received correspondence from the dental company, and that I would get in contact with them so I could discuss what happened with the insurance. He kept on cutting me off mid-sentence, and repeatedly accused me of changing the subject, and deflecting the topic of paying him "his" money, not my debt to the dental company, but to him.
I asked him to stop talking over me and being dis-respectful, and his exact words to me were. "No, your isrespectful for not taking care of your responsibilities. Your not even trying, and frankly I don't care about your situation. You have 7 days to pay in full, or I'll take other measures!"
I asked him what the 'other measures' were that he threatened me with, and asked him what address he had to mail me correspondence. He gave me an address I had where I lived more than 3 years ago. I recently moved, so I asked him if he would like my new address. He refuesd to take the new address, and kept talking over me, and being very very pushy. He even mentioned how he didn't care if it was reported on my credit report, because it's not his problem. I asked for a manager, and he informed me that he was the boss in his building, and that I was not allowedto talk to anyone but him. I asked for his mailing address, so that I could dispute the charge, and he would not give me this either, and was very good at turning it around on me as if it were my fault that he would not give me any pertinent info so I could send in money. I even tried to discuss with him a payment plan, and he told me, and again I quote exactly, " I need the money i nseven days, or I turn you over and pursue further action. You don't want to take care of this so , good day Ms. Barber."
The man hung up on me. I called back very irritated, and asked to speak to a manager, and of course, got Mr. Adam Hoff. He told me he did everything he could but I was impossible to talk to. I told him that his attitude was foul, and also informed him that I would be persuing legal action should he call me again, especially with the attitude, and manor in which he did the first time. I also explained that I palnned to talk to my insurance company before I sent him ANY payment, and he hung up on the the second time. I called once more, and got a young lady to give me ONLY a website in order to pay my bill, but would NOT give me a physical address to mail in my payment.
If anyone else has dealt with the rude, hateful people, I definitely feel for you.
These people are dis-tasteful, cruel, and most certainly un-professional. I will not be sending in any payment to this company. I double dare them to sue for it.
If any lawyers review this site often, I am more than willing to stand up for myself. My credit is not perfect, but I try to take care of my debts, and for someone not to even try to work out a payment plan, or other means of payment in these times is just bad business, and stupid.
I doubt they call back, but never the less, I have now reported them to the better business bureau and to RipOffReport.com
Again their phone number is:323-482-1695
