the cca (capital credit alliance) sent me a letter in the mail stating that i could get a credit card with an unsecured limit of 6500.00. i was a single mother of two at the time and working late hours at my job that i left to go to every morning @ 6:00 am and did not return home from until 10:00 or 11:00 pm every night( weekends included).
So naturally i was struggling to make ends meet to support my kids and myself. I had decided to try to get a credit card to help out my situation.
I recieved this letter and it seemed like what I was looking for. they offered instant cash of up to 6500.00 in which you would qualify for 60 days after your membership was approved and established.
I called the number and went through everything with the operator who answered my call. I was told that was a regular credit card and could be used as such and that I would be eligible for the instant cash option after the 60 days. I then proceeded to give them my banking info.
The statement made to me was that my account would be debited once in january for 199.00 and then again in february for 99.99.
I agreed to the terms and recieved a package in the mail that went over all the details and terms of service. I read over everything and realized that this was not a normal credit card. It stated that the card was only good for mail order purchases out of their catalog and nothing else.
By the time I had recieved the package it was the middle of february after they already debited my account for those two months. I called the company and finally got through to someone after trying for a week or so.
I told this person that I wanted to cancel my membership because of what I thought must have been a misunderstanding on my part and sucked up the fact that i spent 300.00 on nothing.
I was told that it was taken care of that day and nothing else would be taken out of my account. So in beliefs that that was true I threw my information away and thought no more about it.
Then in the middle of the summer my account came up 200.00 negative and that puzzled me because i had completely stopped using that account except for a loan payment that my bank drafted out of my account every month upon my approval.
So I called my bank and asked them about it and they looked up my transactions and said that my account had debited twice for 99.99 by cca that month and that was the only transaction that had been made during that month at that time.
I then called cca and spoke to them again and they said that my membership had not ever been cancelled and they would not issue a refund and like a dummy I just assumed that the request to cancel had not been properly processed, sucked it up again and paid the bank for the overdraft and went thru the cancellation
process again with cca.
Again I was told the same thing and thought that it was taken care of. Until just yesterday I found out that my account was debitted twice in the same day for 99.99 which was on december 2,2003.
I have been on the phone with this company all morning trying to get some answers and no one can seem to help me or give me what I need. Someone actually hung up on me because I was getting really mad and they knew it.
This company is full of S*#@ and I'm not going to stop until I get my money back. If there is anyone else that this has happened to then I know how you feel.
F*** them and their selfish, ruthless, greedy unethical, way of doing business and I hope they all burn in hell.
