We recently purchased a case of meat from a door-to-door salesperson representing Capital Meats. We were wary of buying meat in this manner, so first confirmed the 12-month return policy with the salesperson. A large portion of our order contained freezer born, and the quality of meat is far, far inferior to that that you would buy at a low-budget grocery store. To put it bluntly, it was terrible. I expected a full refund for our purchase, given that the complaint was called in ONE WEEK after our purchase.

However, I received a return call from their very disgruntled "customer service" manager refusing to issue a refund. Refunds are against their company policy???? What? So you are to trust that you are buying a good product without the liberty of tasting it first. And, my mind is supposed to be at ease because he has been feeding this meat to his family for years and don't like it? Please. I am the customer. I am displeased. I deserve (and was refused!) a refund. I cannot believe the unprofessionalism, discorteous manner with which this company runs its day to day business. It's a wonder they remain in business. Next time, I will check the BBB before making a questionable purchase. Had I done so, I would have learned that this company has well over 20 complaints on file. Oh well, live and learn. In the meantime, I beg you all, DO NOT BUY FROM CAPITAL MEATS, INC. You will be disappointed.

Agreed, Capital Meats is a bad business

I also purchased meat from Capital Meats, Inc. based out of Fredericksburg, VA.  I am new to the area and had no prior experience with companies selling food in this manner.

On 7/23/2012 I was charged $175 for 6 cases of frozen beef products.  The next day I cooked some of the beef tenderloin and they smelled and tasted rancid.  I was a professional chef for many years before eventually becoming a software engineer, so I know bad meat when I smell it.

I first attempted to contact the salesman at the number he wrote on my receipt.  The number was out-of-service.  I then called the company and left a message; I was not called back.  I called again the next day and got someone on the phone.  I explained the situation and asked for a refund.  I was told that shouldn't be a problem and that I would be contacted by my sales person within 24 hours to rectify the situation.  He did call and said that he could only receive text messages on the number that he provided to me.  He then stated that he did not have time to come to my home that week and that he would contact me the following week to setup a time.  The next week I sent him a text asking if he was going to come to my home.  I got no response.  I sent another text the next day stating that I thought he could get texts on this number and why am I being ignored.  He sent me a text back stating that he didn't have time to deal with me and maybe he could make it out next week.  Any further attempts to contact him were ignored and I have not been able to communicate with him at all since then (second week of August at this point).

I have left further messages with the office in Fredericksburg and have not had my calls returned.  It is now 09/25/2012 and I still have a bunch of rancid meat in my freezer and no refund.  I am inclined to believe that anyone posting that the food or customer service from this company is good  either works for the company or grew up in poverty eating rancid meat from the dumpster.  I will be filing a complaint with the BBB, the FDA, and the state attorney general's office.  Unethical businesses need to be shut down!

It is hard to believe what you are saying. I buy from capital meats for some years now and it always great food. Plus what company would give ur money back after a wk of haveing it . I sure they would have replaced it and by law that is what they are required to do. You have three days to get your money back from a door to door sales man. I sale kirbys this is why I know this.But after them three days ,it is a deal.I am sure from years of sales you heard what you wanted. And from your strong doubt from the start you set yourself up to hate ur purchase before you even ate any of the food, bc this stuff is great!
