Another Auto Mechanic  Scam

Im here to report Gene Puchace, owner of Capital RV Sales and Capital Golf Carts and Service as a deceptive businessman and the scam he pulled on me through his business.

Just two months ago or so I went to Capital RV Sales and Service to see about having an engine in my 38 diesel pusher motor coach repaired or replaced since it had burned up two cylinders.  The mechanic / shop manager was very professional in talking with me and told me there would be no problem with repairing the engine along with making some other maintenance repairs.  I told him I needed to have the motor coach towed there from a mile or so down the street and he even set me up with his
sons tow truck which was also very professional.

A couple days or later I had the motor coach towed to the shop where the manager went over it and told me they would get back to me on the cost of the job.  I ended up getting a call from Gene telling me he was ready to give me figures so I went to the shop and that was when things went downhill fast.

Gene proceeded to tell me that he couldnt overhaul the engine but he could have it sent out for overhaul which I expected however, he went on to tell me that he could get an engine from Jasper Engines which I was confused about.  I didnt think Jasper made large diesel engines but why would a business owner of 35 years be wrong?  I also told him that I would like
to get some or the entire job done under warranty and he laughed and said, Cummins is far to big to even think about that.

Gene went on to inform me that I was going to have to pay $225 monthly rent to have my motor coach sit there until they could start working on it.  I was a little taken back from this since I could have had it stored for $75 per month where I had it
before.  He told me he would apply the storage rent to the job so I wasnt concerned about paying it.

I went on to asked Gene where the manager was that I originally spoke to and he said he had quit.  What I found out later was the main diesel mechanic along with one or two others left as well because they didnt want to work on golf carts as Gene
was requiring them to do.

A mechanic friend of a friend of mine came down from South Carolina to take a look at the motor coach because he thought he would be able to get part or the entire job done under warranty.  After he got a chance to take a look at the motor coach he talked with a couple of the mechanics still working for Gene.  That is when we found out about the other mechanics leaving and why.

What was more disturbing was the fact one of the mechanics that would be doing the job asked my mechanic how to get the engine out of the motor coach, asked about the ECU and Gene mentioned getting an engine from Jasper again.  This blew away my mechanic and he promptly called to tell me not to have them do the job as it will be a mess if they do
and will destroy any possibilities for a warranted repair.

I went into Capital to discuss this with Gene and hear his side of it.  Gene told me that he wouldnt be able to get an engine from Jasper and that the overhaul would be around $9500.  He went on to tell me that he thought my mechanic was a scammer and shouldnt be trusted.  After listening to Gene, I knew I needed to allow my mechanic to repair the motor coach.

Since my mechanic is a certified mechanic through Cummins and can cover warranty work which I later find out Capital RV, nor Gene nor any of his mechanics can do this, I decided to have the motor coach fixed by my mechanic.

I was contacted by my mechanic to tell me that he was going to come down and tow it to Atlanta to do the work on it.  After that, I called Gene to talk about moving the motor coach and discuss the storage rent.  My mechanic was on the other line with Gene so I asked Gene to call me back when he got done talking.  When closing time for his shop came around
and I didnt hear back, I called but got no answer.  I called my mechanic and he told me that Gene
wanted another $200 or so dollars so he went ahead and paid it so there wouldnt
be any problems getting the motor coach out of there the next day.

It is now 5 days later and Gene still didnt call me to discuss this so I called him.  After beginning to talk with Gene he told me he didnt even want to discuss this and hung up on me.

Basically Gene coned me into paying for storage rent with a promise that I would have it applied to the work his shop would do, all along while knowing that he and his team of mechanics are not qualified to work on much more than golf cars and automobiles.  In his 35 years of service Gene should have known he couldnt get the engine I need from Jasper which proves that he lacks the experience for the job he promised and since Capital is probably hurting financially from this type of poor business ethics, Gene has to collect money by scamming people coming to him for professional help.

To be as fair as I could, I sent this report to Gene in an email.  I asked him to contact me back either to compensate me or to tell me that Im wrong in my comments.  I told him that I would be making the report public the next day if something wasnt resolved.  I didnt hear back from him so I called and once again, he hung up on me.

Be very careful if considering doing any business what so ever with Capital RV Sales and Service.

Besides what Im now hearing from the local community, my experience tells me that they cant be trusted to carry out anything they promise.

Con Man never stops

AUTHOR: Rich - (USA)

I'm not sure what Gene means by embassed but one thing is for sure, he is a con man and can be seen by other reports such as;  http://www.ripoffreport.com/rv-dealers/capital-rv-sales/capital-rv-sales-it-s-a-ripof-189d8.htm

I gave a full and detailed description of his practice and what I received in service from him.  The only thing I requested was a portion of the exuberant rent he charged on the basis he had skilled mechanics to do the job which he did not.

Here is another complaint file against Capital RV.   http://www.eons.com/groups/topic/2461624-Opinions-on-Capital-RV-Sales-Florida             I copied the below from a thread.

This is a scam. Don't fall for it. They contacted me after they saw my ad listing my RV for sale online. Once they got the money, I didn't hear from them again. When I contacted them several more times, they made all kinds of promises, but they never followed through. It was a waste of money.

If you do business with them you may get lucky or you may be reporting them the way so many others have.  There are to many other good businesses out there to do business with someone that has numerous complaints.  I wish I would have checked them out before I got sucked in.

More lies by Mr. Puchace

AUTHOR: Rich - (USA)

It is correct I am not the registered owner of the motor coach.  I purchased it by way of contract and have been in possession of it as well as been making payments on it since 2007.  I purchased the motor coach this way because the registered owner is seriously upside down on what he owes and it was easier financially among other things to do a contract sale.

The engine was only partially disassembled by a certified Cummins repair shop in Ocala Florida.  Since the job was much bigger and costly to do than hoped, I decided to have it towed to our destination which was Palm Harbor Fl. so that I could later have it repaired when more convenient.  This was mentioned to his shop manager before it was ever towed to Capital.

The mechanic, which was very professional, knowledgeable and NO LONGER WORKS AT CAPITAL, told me he would asses the work and get back to me.  Mr Puchace was no where near the shop that day. It was several days later that I visited the shop to discuss the work and that was when I was informed the mechanic along with a couple others I originally spoke with were no longer working for Capital.

When I visited and met Mr Puchace the first time, I was lead to believe that he had a capable service department that would be able to make the reqired repairs whether or not they would be warranted and any money I spent on rent would be applied to the repairs.  This is why I agreed to the rent.

The person I am purchasing the motor coach from did send a mechanic down to take a look at the coach and Capital RV Repair facilities.  The mechanic was very clear in what he thought of Mr. Puchace and Capital.  I am more than happy to refer anyone to the mechanic if they would like to get his thoughts first hand.

The mechanic did come down to discuss the work and that was when Mr. Puchace had commented on getting an engine from Jasper engines which anyone that works on diesel engines knows, Jasper doesn't sell these as rebuilds or otherwise.  After discussing the matter with the mechanic and the seller to me, we knew it was very clear this was not a job to be done by a facility that does more work on golf cars now than on motor coaches.

On Dec. 17, after I got a call that the mechanic would be down to pick up the coach the following day, I called Capital to discuss the storage rent with Mr. Puchace which didn't return my call.  I finally got ahold of him while he was on the phone with the mechanic and asked him to call me when he was finished talking with the mechanic.  Nearly an hour had passed and it was closing time, I called him back again.  That was when he proceeded to tell me that he got the money from the mechanic without talking to me first and proceeded to hang up on me when I tried to discuss the agreement we had and that it was made on promises he could not keep.

I never tried to have it towed without having discussed the concerns I had and make an amicable and fair agreement.  By Mr' Puchace conning the mechanic into paying the rent without returning my phone call or discussing it with me first just shows his flavor of deceptive practice.

If you are considering using this place to repair a car, an RV, to sell an RV to repair a golf car or to purchase a golf car, consider this, if a small business is truly successful at what they do, they wouldn't practice so much work under one roof and would have a staff that could handle specialized work instead of golf car mechanics working on RV's or vis versa.

I suggest anyone to look for the other reports on the web of this facility and the erroneous  activities they practice.  I wish I had.

#4 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Capital RV Sales

AUTHOR: EUGENE J PUCKACE - (United States of America)

This is in response to this outrageous complaint. Capital Service Center has been successfully operating in this location for 13 years with seldomly a problem. Following is the account of what really occured:

  • Richard Olson is not the registered owner of this motor home.

  • This motor home was towed in on 10/27/2011 not running and motor disassembled.

  • The service department did no more than look at the motor home and ask Richard what he wanted to do. His response was to leave it until he could see if he could get it covered by insurance.

  • At that time he was informed that storage would be $200.00 per month until he could determine what course of action he wanted to take.

  • The registered owner of the motor home sent his mechanic down in November and we discussed pricing on getting a rebuilt motor.

  • On Saturday, December 17th the registered owners mechanic called and stated he was going to have the coach towed on Sunday the 18th, and also had the rent been paid for December. It had not so he paid the $200.00 on a Visa so he could tow the coach the next day.

  • The bottom line of this is that Richard Olson got caught trying to tow this vehicle away on a closed day and the mechanic did the right thing of paying the bill for the registered owner. This is the reason I want to have no further communication with Richard Olson.

  • Any consumer reading his complaint needs to make a decision on their own as to who is telling the real story.
