I was just ripped off by this company I asked to write a different type of marketing/business like plan for me. They attempted 5 times to write the plan for my website. They could not and now refuse to give me my money back. I had to gather my proof and write to the credit card company. Here is the letter to explain.....

To whom it may concern:

I have sent all the facts and documentations to back my claims, yet I feel as though I am being railroaded by Capital West Advisors who is very familiar with this experience and will do nothing but tell you lies and cause me continued stress.

I don't know where to begin, because none of his recollections are true. I can only address the very obvious lies in his claim to you. First, on his website and his letterhead, he claims to have 5 other offices. He has since then removed two. When you telephone these offices, they all lead to the same answering machine, from the same number. Because we were having such difficulties, I asked if I could go to their New York office to work with someone, face to face. I was told that the office just recently closed. When my husband and I went to look for ourselves (because the telephone number for all the offices lead back to California), I was told they were never there.

In this letter, Seth talked about the fact that I was continuously content with the plans. First, the plans he describes as being 55 pages were @ 30 pages (depending on the revision) and of those 30 pages, there were extra spaces and always four lines between each paragraphs. Had the plan been written with charts, that were specifically ask to be left out, the verbiage itself would have filled approximately 23 pages. I told Seth my purpose was NOT to have a typical business plan, but to have a guide. I was not interested in investors. I did not need them. I had a person to write the website for me.

He talks about how content I was and how the only thing that needed to truly be rewritten was the introduction. He even agrees that the plan was rewritten 5 times, yet if this is true, why rewrite the entire plan and more importantly, WHY would it take 5 times to rewrite an introduction. If this was all that I needed, I would have done this myself!

I actually supplied West Coast Advisors with most, if not all of his information. I originally wrote the information for Christian Brenneman, at a company (California) called Master Plans. I am sure if you call him, he will remember the entire story and what I supplied him with. Christian Brenneman gave me my money (deposit) back (1400 dollars). I'm sure they don't do this often, without first trying to complete the task. I believe if you contact Christian, he will be able to verify my exchanges with them. Master Plans is both honest and reputable. Christian can send you the information that I am faxing to you too. I sent it to him, to show him what I was looking for. It was their form, but all of my information and research. He wanted to better understand what I wanted in the plan, so while He knew that I did not know how to create a business plan, he asked me to simply fill out as much of the blank plan, that I could. I found this in a drawer, after I sent the rest of my proof to you, and unfortunately did not send it to you originally. I also am certain that Master Plans must have a copy that they kept for their records. The unprofessional plan (that I wrote) shows you that I did most of my own work. I did not know what I was doing, this is why I had to hire someone, but I was able to supply the information. I only needed it organized; which is what I told Master Plans (Christian Brenneman) too. This same information was sent to them PRIOR to my introduction to Seth's company. Please call them. Christian told me that they were not able to do this type of plan. So instead of taking my money, he actually GAVE it back to me (my deposit).

I was starting this company because I had an accident and I could not conceive or carry a child to term. Seth knew this, simply because I needed his company to not only sign a confidentiality agreement, but I needed him to know the purpose of the website and my emotional investment.

My goal was to make certain that another infertile man or women would never be unarmed and/or ill-equipped the same way we were. This community is not regulated (because of Roe vs. Wade) and some of it unfortunately is corrupt. It is devastating to me. My purpose was to make something good out of a horrible situation and to make certain it would never happen again. It was not my goal to make money and so I did not need forecast charts. I did not need a 5 year plan, operational plan, financial and growth strategy etc. We discussed that what I was looking for was a marketing plan for the site, which would create invisible boundaries. This is exactly what I had wanted.

After the 4th attempt to rewrite the marketing/business plan, I was forced to hire a company (TCM Marketing), who does marketing for websites. They tried one more time, to help West Coast Advisors understand infertility, but they too got frustrated after the 5th attempt.

I ended up having to pay this company for helping me with West Coast Advisors. Trying to step in, when I was mourning our loss. Seth knew this. I not only paid them to help me, I had ended up having to pay them to make me a working outline (5 pages), for me to follow as a guideline for my first year. The money which I had for a plan is now tied up in this dispute. I am enclosing a cashed check, from when they billed me.

Seth talked about me being with my surrogacy agency, in his letter to you. That is another lie. My agency resides in California. I am in New Jersey. The name of the Marketing firm who I eventually had to pay to do a 5 page outline for me, from scratch is TCM Marketing (Lisa). Finally, the name of the original firm that I went to for the business plan is called Master Plans and Christian was my contact at the company. This is the honest, company who most likely will have record of my contact with them. They spent a lot of time trying to help me, until they realized they were not able to and gave me my deposit back. His number is 1-866-763-0717.

These emails that you have been given are not the ones which were sent to me. On my payment page, the company lays out the payment plan. It is not pay half now and half before you see the completed plan. If given the choice to pay in increments, why would I pay the last half, without checking the plan? Especially since I had such difficulties working with them. The company charged the remaining 1300 dollars, before I could cancel my card. They knew at this point that I was extremely unhappy and at this point angry.

The date on the email is March 25th yet the start of the plan was February 22nd, according to his records. His papers and his site, say that he will have the plan done in 2 weeks and then I will have 10 days to confirm and make my last payment of 650 dollars. Why would I pay prior to seeing a plan that had so many problems? None of these emails were sent to me or from me. And if all of his offices, emails and phone numbers are real, then why is he blackening them out? All over the documentation which he sent to you, he blackens out the information; especially their 800 number, which is the number for all of the fictitious offices.

I have so much more to say and I can go on forever, but I am hoping that you will see the discrepancies or call the many numbers and speak with the people that I have supplied to you.

Please look at his documentation. It is all blackened out and none of it is factual. Dates are changed as well as words and numbers etc. I am not certain how he did this, but I do know that I have never seen these before.

Although, it has been over two years since this last comment was posted, I want to elaborate that my high school G.P.A. was 3.8 upon being admitted to the University of Michigan and I was accepted into and enrolled in the Honors program at University of Michigan.  Also, two years later, Capital West Advisors still has zero complaints on the Better Business Bureau.

Capital West Advisors

AUTHOR: livmad - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Seth Schwartz is truly a scammer! I am not looking to be sued so I will leave it short and sweet! I worked with Capital West Advisors for the past 5 months and they took my money but geve next to nothing back! Capital West Advisor's plan made no sense and I even had to make corrections to their reports - which in the end looked like a child wrote! I was at dinner the other night in LA, with a bunch of friends. These friends, some movers and shakers, said that Seth Schwartz (Capital West Advisors) was complete hot air and smoke! 2 of the dinner guests told us stories of Seth's days in high school! Of course I laughed - He JUST ripped me off!!! Seems like Seth has not changed! Apparently he was caught stealing food from a teacher's classroom (from her desk drawer of all things) and was the butt of all jokes until graduation. I spoke to a girl who said that she knew him too and that he BARELY graduated from high school! That would explain his lack of work! I wish I had this dinner 6 months ago!!!!!!! Capital West Advisors is a RIPP OFF!!!!!!!!!

Seth,
I really do not want to rehash my problems with you and/or Capital West Advisors, from a couple years ago. My only purpose for making the rebuttal to the attack about my own personal business practices, is simply to refute this "person's" allegations. I wanted to make it perfectly clear that I do not have a website that sells anything and/or have never been sued or sent to collections by any company. This false accusation came well over a year since we last posted and I am only interested in keeping this truthful and accurate. My feelings about what was or was not done for us has not changed. I still believe in simple research. If you are looking to do business with ANYONE, including me (even though I am not in business), PLEASE do the research, both online and off. I know that I did not and now I do!

I am simply refuting the accusations made against me! Sadly, it is always necessary to do the research.

A Rating with Better Business Bureau

AUTHOR: Seth schwartz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 24, 2010

Wendy,

You say that we have lots of complaints with the Better Business Bureau, but we have only had 2 complaints in the past 3 years out of several hundred clients and have an A Rating.  We tried our best to make you happy and developed a high quality business plan for you, which we revised many times.  To this day, I do not understand why you were not happy.  I have no idea who the individual is that posted the blog about you.

You need to decide for yourself. Seth obviously has a friend!

AUTHOR: Sotsy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 09, 2010

It has been a long time since this occurred and I have no idea what happened to this company. I just came across my intial complaint and while I stand behind it, I would like for you to know that I have NO IDEA who this rebuttal claiming I owe 6 thousand dollars to them is. I do not know of anyone. I have never had conflict with anyone in business before or since, but it is for you to decide! I believe in research and if it is too good to be true, than it is most likely not. In my case, too many promises were made and not kept. I should have known then and I certainly know now.

Seth obviously needs to clean up this blemish on his business, but please, instead of listening to what is said here, please look up the ethics and practices of West Coast Advisers at the Better Business Bureau and others like it. I think you then need to follow your gut.

Seth, no amount of planted rebuttals or friends who post on your behalf will clean up the complaints at the Better Business Bureau. I admit....I did not look and I got burned!

Hang in there Seth

Ironically, I came across this string while I was doing research on another business and found it a very interesting read. Especially, since I have had business with the Client that is making the complaint. Mrs. Kertesz and I have had business in the past involving a situation that, unfortunately due to contractual agreements to confidentiality, I am unable to explain in detail.

Let me say that it more likely that the Client's claims of "bad business" practices are unfounded and another example of how the Client will make every attempt possible to blame someone else for her short comings. My story about the Client is fairly complicated, but I won't bog down the string by explaining in detail everything that happened, so I will attempt to keep it simple.

Suffice it to say that when the agreement was beyond the point of cancellation, Mrs. Kertesz, began making claims that I was in breach of contract and making claims that any and all money exchanged was "rightfully" due back to her. She then began blaming the attorney that originally drafted the contract, a separate agency that was involved with the agreement, and basically everyone involved except herself.

It was, as the "concerned consumer" coined well, on the verge of 'crazy'. It appeared that any and all service provided to the Client, Mrs. Kertesz, did not matter and she claimed that any "product" of the agreement was due her for free, completely. By the sounds of this string, her business practices haven't changed at all.

Seth, be advised, Mrs. Kertesz will continue her claims against you, and she will do anything she can to dirty your name. I am not familiar with your business practices and I will not claim to your ethics or professionalism, but I can say that Mrs. Kertesz's business practices and ethics are reputedly bad.  Heck, she still owes approximately $6,000 on services already rendered.

To anyone who is reading this string, be advised that you should not judge Capital West Advisers on the claims of their Client. Her credibility is non-existent and her integrity is proven to be in question. She has shown herself to be libel and unethical. Do not believe her claims, it is more likely skewed or an out-right lie.

You Get What You Pay For

AUTHOR: Concerned Reader - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 24, 2009

Sounds like you should have had a business plan made up well before your potential investor was leaving for Rome in a week. The dates you're giving convey that you decided to commission them to do work on your project and expected a professional grade biz plan to be completed in about a week for the meager sum of $2500. I'd bet a dollar that the other biz plan companies you were considering cost considerably more and you simply went for Seth's company because it was the cheapest.

Further more, most new business ideas have been tried before, I doubt your idea is going to reshape how the Earth works, so it makes sense that most business plans copy portions of the plan from other successful plans of companies in similar industries. Copying and pasting is just par for the course when it comes to writing business plans. Your really detailed account of your experience with Capital West Advisors makes you sound like a crazy person. Where most people would have moved on and accepted the subpar plan, you choose to blame him for the great downfall of your business instead of investing that energy in getting your company off the ground. So your first foray into starting your own business has some speed bumps, you have to move on and overcome instead of wallowing and trying to discredit someone else's business.

Response to "Shame on Capital West Advisors"

AUTHOR: Seth Schwartz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 07, 2008

I have asked Rip Off Report several times to remove the link "Review this plan". The intention was not to violate confidentiality, it was to demonstrate that the business plan in nothing short of excellent work and these claims are completely unjustified. We will be happy to give any prospective clients, as many references as they were like.

As I've told Wendy, we will not show this business plan to anyone.

Shame on Capital West Advisors

AUTHOR: Lucy M - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 04, 2008

I am absolutely amazed that as a business man, Seth Schwartz (who has signed 4 separate confidentiality agreements with my client), would stoop to such a level as to offer anyone asking, for her business plan. I was hired as a consultant to try to rectify this horrible situation that Capital West Advisors had created.

Our staff has spent over 60 hours re-defining the business direction that the client clearly communicated, organizing the information, correcting the industry statistics, and fixing inaccurate research thrown together by Capital West Advisors. Sadly, the only consistencies in the business plan were the grammatical and punctuation errors.

It amazes me that Seth Schwartz claims that Capital West Advisors has a polished, professional reputation. There are 3 documented complaints in the last 7 months at the Better Business Bureau, because of dishonest work ethic, unprofessionalism, inability to get the work done and unsatisfied customers. Seth Schwartz has made it clear that while there is a dispute between my client and Capital West Advisors, that instead of making a rebuttal (which is rightfully his position), he has chosen to threaten my clients business and expose her business plan. In effect, Capital West Advisors and Seth Schwartz are breaking the law by violating the confidentiality agreement, which he willingly signed four times (with 2 other employees).

In closing, it saddens me that there are companies that are as unethical and dishonest as Capital West Advisors. Unfortunately, this puts a black cloud above the heads of those of us that are reputable companies, willing to make the effort to satisfy our clients at all costs.

Seth, as an employee of Capital West Advisors, you have right to post a rebuttal to my clients claims. But you do not have the right to break the law and thus, her confidentiality agreement with your company by offering her business plan for the world to see; Shame on you!

Review the Actual Business Plan Created for this Client

AUTHOR: Seth Schwartz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 31, 2008

I would be happy to share the actual business plan created for this client with any prospective client or individual who is interested in reviewing it.

Once again, we developed a high quality, 56 page business plan for this client, which we would be more than happy to share with anyone.

Unjustified Complaint

AUTHOR: Seth Schwartz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 31, 2008

This complaint is completely unjustified. We developed a very high quality, 56 page business plan for this client (47 pages of narrative; 9 page of financial statements). We have the highest satisfaction rate in the industry (approx. 99% of our clients are completely satisfied) and this is the first dispute that Capital West Advisors has encountered in almost 2 years.

I (Seth Schwartz) was 1 of the Managing Directors involved with this client (I started out this project; an Associate and Executive Director developed most of the business plan). This client was referred to us by our competitor MasterPlans, which I initially could not understand why. The client (Wendy Kertesz) said that it was because they were upset that MasterPlans had them fill out the long questionnaire that they typically asks of their clients. The client was, more or less, happy throughout the process, until she encountered a personal crisis, at which point, she delegated the responsibility of completing the plan to her friend Lisa.

Wendy became unavailable for the last 2 weeks; at which point, 3 of us (including myself) were discussing the business plan with Lisa. Lisa initially requested several changes to the Market section and 1st page of the Company Overview, which we implemented. We neglected to completely fix a mistake that referred to the market as the Infertility Market instead of the Fertility Market. Lisa was upset about this and asked for this section to be re-worked. We had also neglected to fix 2 or 3 grammatical/spelling errors. Lisa (who had also communicated this to Wendy) were upset about this neglection, which we immediately corrected. Then, Lisa started to make very vague complaints about the Market section and when neither, Eric, Myself, or Sarah could understand what needed to be done to this plan, I eventually had to call Wendy to understand what, indeed, they needed done to the Market section. (The Market section that we developed is 14 pages, contained figures and trends from valuable, comprehensive reports related to the Fertility Market, comprehensive reports, a target market analysis, demographic information, profile of their 7 most direct competitors, competitive anlayis, competitive strategy, and industry analysis.)

When I called Wendy, she went ballistic saying that she was not supposed to be contacted during her personal crisis. At this point, even though the client was already sitting on an excellent 56 page business plan, which we had already implemented 4 or 5 rounds of revisions to, the client requested their money back!

I want to re-iterate that we developed a very high quality business plan for this client (who at the end of the project stated that they didn't even care about the Operational Plan, Financial Plan, or Growth Plan, even though they were trying to raise money for a Start-up Company and had never mentioned anything of that nature until that point!) This client did not even make one real complaint about our process or our company until the last week of our dealing with them!
