Capitol Music USA Ripoff Middle/High School band parents, you turn in rented instrument and it is lost and they bill you for it 5 years later because the turn in was not posted to your account Montgomery Alabama

I couldn't afford to buy a clarinet for my son when he started band in middle school. The school arranged a band night where Capitol Music came in to rent instruments to the band students and we rented one. We made payments on it all thru the school year and turned it in to the school when all the other band students with rented instruments returned theirs. We did not get a receipt and I didn't think anything of it. But somehow his instrument disappeared, either from the school or from Capitol Music I don't know how or where or I know is we turned it in.

Well 5 years later I get a phone call from a nasty collection agency employee telling me I have to pay $700+ for a flute I supposed stole from Capitol Music. They said they were going to turn me in for civil prosecution on conversion theft charges. I argued with them that I never rented a flute because my son only played a clarinet and now a saxaphone.

Well it turned out Capitol Musics records were wrong about the flute, I rented a clarinet but they did not know where it was and my account was still open so I had to pay for it. I paid the $700+ dollars and will not be prosecuted but they consider it a closed issue so I won't be getting my money back either because I don't have a receipt showing I turned it in. Lesson learned for me, ALWAYS get a receipt, hopefully for others too. If you have had a similar problem with this company please post it here. If this is happening to more than just me then there is a problem with Capitol Music. Maybe an unscrupulous employee, or maybe they make extra money by deliberately ripping people off.
