I am writing this to prevent anyone else from getting burnt. I wish this sight was available before I had purchased anything. I had a good deal worked up with the local ford dealership on a new vehicle. The vehicle only had 42 thousand miles on it when I puchased it, to me that is new practicly. My vehicle has been in and out of carmax repair for the same reasons and never fixed. I was sold the vehicle under the pretences that carmax does'nt sell wrecked vehicles and they even had a carfax report to prove it and a display vehicle in the lobby showing they would never sell anything like this...BS.. My vehicle sustained major front end damage and possibly moreand then to top it off, Repaired by a sub-professional. Carmax had the engine removed for serviceing one of my initial coplaints about oil usage, that revealed some of the shotty body work. I will never be able to take it in or trade it and get my money out of it. I have 4 more years to pay on this vehicle. I would never do that to someone. This vehicle should of been in the salvage yard. I heard alot of people were happy with carmax. I checked the BBB but there was'nt ant bad reports, you had to write the CarMax head office for a copy. The service department attendant gave me a " Oh,He found out" look when I begun pointing out the damage areas and placing my thoughts why I am having engine and drivetrain and suspention issues. I woundered why they would fix issues related to but not the issue itself. I spent alot of my personnal time taking this vehicle in and explaining to the best of my knowledge what the issue is. I have had my vehicle 8 months and out of the eight it has been in their shop at least three. They will no longer do any warrantee work they refused to after I pointed out the body damage. I just assume it is because they have replaced everything possible except for the main issues. I had a bodyshop repair person tell me you can make a wreck look new again but in most cases there is underlying damage done to the frame ,suspention, and engine/drivetrain components that is'nt apperent during the damage appraisal. He said sadly your case is one of them. I think this web site should be required to be seen before you buy. I feel really foolish, ripped off, taken advatage of, and lied to.

Clarification please.

AUTHOR: Will - (United States of America)

I know this is relatively old, but I have a question.

"I had a good deal worked up with the local ford dealership on a new vehicle. The vehicle only had 42 thousand miles on it when I puchased it, to me that is new practicly. My vehicle has been in and out of carmax repair for the same reasons and never fixed. The way I read this (from the first paragraph of the OP).  One point the OP says the local Ford dealer was where the sale was being made, and later it say CarMax was doing the repair work because it was sold from there all in the same paragraph.

The vehicle was being purchased where then, the Ford dealer or CarMax?  Or is it a case of CarMax IS/WAS the local Ford dealer? Or is the Ford dealership and the CarMax statements totally unrelated, although jammed into the same paragraph?

Your Concerns:Bob

AUTHOR: Ward107 - (U.S.A.)

I purchased a 2005 e350 passenger van. My original complants were within the first week of ownership. A Few were a couple of weeks later within the 30 day warantee. I did'nt find out about the front end repair till Carmax removed my engine to replace valve guides because of oil consumption and they did'nt align the parts back up the way they were painted. Which is still happening. The vehicle stores at least 7 quarts of oil, at every oil change 3000 miles it has been 3.5 to 4 quarts low( same as before) no leaks or smoke. I purchased the vehicle with 40000 miles and it has ruffly 60000 on it now still with the same issues. Heavy vibration in the rear end and slippage( they replaced the u-joints, and driveshaft and transmission seal) which I told them through experiance it is a rear end problem. Eccessive tire noise and vibration (they replaced a rim) no fix there, the front tires are hevilly warn on the inside tread, I had been told that it needed a tire rotation by carmax( I know it to be front end issues), I am not putting the other tires up fron to let them get ruined. I only had the 30 day warantee, no extended, I assumed a 40000 mile hevy duty truck should last and is normally a break in period. After a couple of weeks of driving it it had felt like it had over 150,000 miles on it. I did'nt have it verry much thru the first month or two of ownership because they had it in the shop working on things that were not the issue. I purchased the vehicle at the easton location. I had taken the vehicle back in to have a coolant leak fixed from a pinched hose due to the removal of the engine which I think is probably normal but I had asked them about the issues that I had beed still having an were not fixed yet, they had said they needed to ask permission, and I pointed out the front end damage that I had realized and the cracked paint in the rear they had given me a " oh $hit he knows " look. I discussed with them that the body shop had indicated that all my mechanical issues are relevant to the issues I am exerianced. The drivetrain was probably pushed back due to the frame being bent and same for the irregular tire ware and the engine issues.I hoped this answerd some of you questions.

Couple of questions for you....

AUTHOR: Bob - (U.S.A.)

I have a few questions to help clarify what has happened to you:
What year make & model of vehicle did you buy?
What was your original complaint? Was that ever resolved?
How long did you have the vehicle prior to having problems?
What warranty repairs are they refusing to fix?
How long of an extended warranty did you purchase?
which CarMax in Columbus did you buy from? There are two.
