We are from Canada and needed a car rental in Phoenix, USA for 1 week. We rented through carrentals.com because they had the best rate. They quoted in US dollars and no where on the website were we allerted to the fact that Canadians cannot rent through this site (USA citizens as well). You need a license OUTSIDE of USA or Canada! Now it was my mistake as it was in the fine print of the contract. But we would have been glad to amend the contract, even if it meant paying more, once we were at the car rental office, but carrentals.com were unwilling to do anything for us. They basically told us "too bad", there is nothing they can do. And by that time, it was too late to cancel the booking - so they had our money and we had nothing. If they want to be a legitamate company, they should at least put this critical information on their home page and not quote in US dollars - it is misleading! Or maybe notify the customer when they are entering booking information. They are probably counting on people like me who don't read contracts carefully! Thankfully we were only out $150 or so. So please - read the contract!!! Don't make the same mistake as us!
