On July 10th 2006 I hade and emergency with one of my dogs and had to go to an emergency vet-The Animal Emergency Center Inc. 1209 Cromwell Bridge Road towson MD 21286. My dog had injested weed killer and was gravely ill.
Before they would treat her I was handed a bill with the projected cost of $900.00 I had just put down a deposit on a home I was purchasing. They offered me the credit card -Care Credit which they displayed on the counter to pay for the cost of treatment. I paid $385.00 of the bill and the balance of 500.00 was put on the card -that was the limit that was extended to me.
The offer was I could pay the full amount interest free in one month or make installment pyments. Due to my situation I had to make pyments-41.00 per month. Well that is where the nightmare began!! the fees were 59.00 and above each month and an addition fee for not paying the amount in full which though I made the payments I began being charged for being over my limit -and additional fee mind you I've made payments of $100.00 only to be charge a fee and found the fees ate up the payment and I would again be charged with being over my limit --Can you imagine!!-I only used this card the one time and now I am being charged over 1100. on an original balance of 500.
I've have been unemployed yet after making arrangements to pay and being convinced that this was the neccessary thing to do I set up auto payments with option to cancel them If I was still unable to pay when the payment was due- this information came from Ms. Dian Aljazi of the legal dept(?) after all the conversation was recorded well - I am still unemployed and trying to keep my house so when I inquired as to how they were able to put through a payment when NO funds were available, I only had 15.00 in the bank I was told they would reverse the payment and I would be hearing from the Legal dept re: my account-NOTHING has been done and my bank account is in overdraft!! My calling does NO good -I though consumers were protected from sharks like Care Credit -What can I do - they are ruining my credit -this is the only credit care I had

Do you think CareCredit is helping you out of the kindness of their heart? Do you think they care about YOUR financial situation? NO. They are in the business of making money. If you can't afford the payments, DON'T get the card. I had to take my dog to the vet for an emergency surgery. He had 2 herniated discs in his back and could not walk. I was told the operation would be $6000. I put $2000 down, and opened a CareCredit account to pay for the rest. CareCredit gave me $4000 in credit and a zero percent interest rate, provided I paid the balance within a year and never missed a payment. During that time I accrued over $750 in deferred interest. THREE months before the promo period ended, I made a balloon payment of $2200. My card was paid off and I was charged NO INTEREST. They extended me $4000 in my time of need, and were even willing to give 0% interest FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR. As long as you play by the rules, and hold up YOUR end of the bargain, you will not have a problem. Stop trying to make your problems, everyone else's problems. Get out of the mindset that credit card companies are charities that somehow owe you favors or leniency.

AND THEY VIOLATE FEDERAL LENDING LAWS REGULARLY AND HOPE YOU DO NOT KNOW IT
file formal complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Office of Thrift Supervision.
The government needs to investigate these unlawful business practices.
Anyone having any problems with GEMB accounts needs to file these complaints
