I haven't seen a review yet for this year yet (2014), so I guess I'll be the first! Like everyone who's reading this right now, I was sucked into this "amazing" free cruise deal that I was offered. I got the voucher through mail on Februrary 3rd and called right away when I got it as it said "Call now to activate" etc etc. I was so dumb of course and a reprsentative answered. He congratulated me and made me feel like a part of thier family. They told me I got a free cruise, but that I should "extend" my package for an additional cost. That was my first mistake! I took the bait and I opted for a 3 day/2 night stay in Orlando or Ft. Lauderdale and then a 3 day/2 night stay in The Bahamas at their Grand Lucayan Resort. The cost was a total of $1133!!!
Naturally, I was very uncomfortable with this amount and called two days later (Feb 5th) to cancel my package...to no success. The respresentative named Darius (who I read in a previous review that he was an enthusiastic and chippy guy) offered me the trip at a lower cost of $653 with a year extension and 100% money back if I don't like the trip (yeah right!) and other goodies. I was still very iffy about saying yes, but he went ahead and made all the changes anyways ( what a jerk). So yesterday (February 13th), I called the cancel my package using the Florida Sellers of Travel Act. The first representative refused to give me are refund because he said the law only applies to Florida residents who purchase the package. He said since I live in Wisconsin, I only have 3 days to return my package. FALSE!!
Don't give in to that. The Florida law applies to THEM since they are a business in Florida, not the state where you, the purchaser, live. Don't let them scare you with that. Anyways, after that I hung up dissatisfied, so I got my Florida laws ready and called again for round 2! This time, a lady was my representative and I could tell she was completely a new worker because she did not know how to handle me or my complaints. She put me on hold several times and left me on hold for 10 minutes! She repeated the same things the first representative did but I kept telling her I want to cancel the package. Anyways, I was waiting way too long, so I hung up and called YET a third time!
I was getting frustrated and upset. So guess who takes my call next? None other than Darius who "upgraded" my package two days after I purchased the package. He and I went at it for a while. He talks WAYY too much and I had to constantly interrupt him as I was tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. He kept telling me that my only option was to transfer the package to someone else or sell it. Another argument all the representatives LOVED bringing up to me was the fact that they are not a travel agency but a marketing company. Bull!! According to the Florida statue, a seller of travel is one "who maintains a business location in Florida or who offers to sell to persons in Florida." They are clearly selling you a vacation package no matter how much they tell you they're just a marketing company.
They will try to say A LOT of things to get you to feel dumb about yourself, but if all else fails...just keep saying "I want to cancel my package." and pester then constantly. After Darius and I went at it, he transferred me to the floor supervisor who was named Ruben. This guy was probably the most ignorant! He told me he REFUSED to cancel my package. I kept telling him I was winthin my 30 day window and that I demanded a refund. Of course he said the same things the other representatives said about me not qualifying since I'm not a Florida resident and blah blah blah. I didn't give in to his bullcrap either. I didn't care.
I continued pestering him and repeating over and over "I want to cancel my package". He also put me on hold multiple times and the last time he put me on hold...I waited for a good minute or so and then he HUNG UP ON ME! How unprofessional and what TERRIBLE customer service!!!! I knew he was irritated, but he should've handled it BETTER! Anyways, I called back the FOURTH time and told the person to transfer me to whoever I needed to talk to to CANCEL MY PACKAGE. To my surprise, she pulled up my information and told me right away that my package had been canceled. I asked her to make sure and said would my $653 ALL be refunded back? She said yes and then gave me a confirmation number and thanked me. Then I hung up.
Ruben could have told me that, but I guess he was too embarassed to. He argued with me and belittled me and then hung up just to cancel my package. I know he didn't want to face me after getting his ego up and trying to argue against me. So as far as I know right now, my package is canceled! THANK THE LORD!
Bottomline: DO NOT GIVE UP!!!! If you have to, give them attitude and you'll get your money back. Don't give up!!! AS LONG AS YOU'RE WITHIN 30 DAYS OF YOUR PURCHASE, you have EVERY right to cancel the package no matter what they say to you! STAND STRONG!!!!! Good luck and NEVER EVER buy from this company!
