I too am a victim of Ruth from Carolina Furniture. I was quoted $2103 for a Lea Furniture bedroom set and 8-12 weeks delivery. After I signed the contract and paid the 50% deposit, no one at Carolina Furniture would return my calls regarding delivery.
After posing as a customer who wanted to make a purchase, Ruth miraculously remembered how to use the phone and called me back. She assured me the furniture was ready to ship from the factory but they just hadn't scheduled a delivery.
18 weeks later, no furniture, still no return phone calls or emails for the numerous inquiries sent. Additionally, I checked with Lea Furniture and found out that Carolina Furniture is no longer a distributor and had not been for awhile. Consequently they entered into the contract with no means or intention of being able to fulfiil their end.
Seeing all the other unfortunate entries here, I doubt I will see my deposit. We are looking at filing suit for fraud regarding the contract. Any other info on how Mr. Privette can be located or tracked down would be most appreciated.
