Carolina Outdoor Aspects, Inc. was hired to construct a roof over our existing deck, build an outdoor fireplace and a patio for a set price and did not complete the job, and refused to do so. We have a written contract dated August 3, 2012, stating specifically what was to be included in the price of the construction project.
Per our contract, we have paid Carolina Outdoor Aspects $90% of the price of the project, but only $75% of the project was completed. Per our contract, Carolina Outdoor Aspects, Inc. states, all permits will be pulled and all proper inspections will be followed. They failed to produce a permit or inspection results. Upon investigation with the Union County Building Permit office, no permit was ever pulled and no construction inspections were completed. [continued below]....
Multiple construction deficiencies can be found on the project and were pointed out to Carolina Outdoor Aspects, Inc. which they refuse to fix. As an example, Carolina Outdoor Aspects, Inc. built an outdoor fireplace. The joint between the fireplace and the newly constructed roof leaks profusely down the face of the fireplace. Where the newly constructed roof joins our existing house also leaks profusely. Carolina Outdoor Aspects, Inc. refuses to fix the leaks.
Carolina Outdoor Aspects, Inc. was unresponsive and uncooperative to schedule, quality and work ethic during the construction process. When asked to meet to discuss the project, I was met by the following response, "I have a lot going on tomorrow but I will do 8am if we can make it quick. I have a very busy schedule tomorrow! See you then.". We met resistance like this the entire project and ultimately this resistance lead to Carolina Outdoor Aspects, Inc. abandoning the job before it was complete.
The project was promised to have taken 3 weeks to complete and 8 weeks into the project, Carolina Outdoor Aspects, Inc. informed us by email that, "I have pulled everything off the job, and dont plan on returning". Winter was fast approaching and we were now faced with finding a contractor to finish the incomplete construction job. Carolina Outdoor Aspects, Inc. is in breach of our contract and we tried to get resolution, but Carolina Outdoor Aspects, Inc. did not cooperate.
Do your homework and ask a lot of questions before you hire this contractor. We would not recommend any of his services to anyone.
