RE: Sonata, purchased on Monday, July 9, 2007

Dear Guys in Sales and Financing:

I believe that, mostly through my own stupidity and trust, I substantially overpaid for the Sonata SE V6.

Nicky told me that I would get the same deal I was offered the previous day on a 2.4 V4 Sonata. That 'deal', Nicky told me on both July 9 and 10, involved my paying the invoice price, which would include all taxes, Freight and handling, plus a $2,300 invoice price increase and the final 2two payments on my Nissan Maxima. This price SHOULD have come in around $20 or $21,000. Not $24,000. We figured that, at 2.9%, the payments would come to $333.96 a month after $4,000 down, not $364.18 a month, as turned out to be the case.

Too late did I realize, after having taken possession of the 3.3 V6, that I paid full MSRP plus Freight and handling, with taxes on top of that, so that the car would actually cost me over 24,000 with no options.

While sitting down with Al for financing, he never went over a single item regarding cost, and stupidly and trustingly, I didn't ask. It was only when my wife signed the papers that we realized what had been done; something like a 'price and switch'.

After a few phone calls and messages, no one has gotten back to me, so I have to assume that the reason is, The sucker bought the car, signed the papers and took possession and we are done with him. Congratulations on another 'slight of money well executed!'

I'm sorry that I did not have a good experience with your dealership. I guess it will have to enough satisfaction to steer people looking for cars, away from Stevens. You must have heard this story before but this one is really true, although you likely will not believe it: A friend in my neighborhood has two, driving aged children. Mom, Dad and the kids all work and all need cars. They have only one good car and one held together with wire and chewing gum. He was telling me that he needed to get two used cars in good condition for his wife and two kids. I was extolling the virtues of a Hyundai 2.4 V4; how smooth and comfortable the ride it has compared to the other cars I had test driven. He needs these cars before September. He's a good friend, so you can understand my having to mention my dissatisfaction with the way I was snowed at Stevens.

Ludicrously, I was president of a local union for 22 years, which had 2,000 members. Obviously, during contract negotiations, someone else handled the monetary negotiations; NOT ME. You can tell how great a job I would have done in that area! But, aside from the 2,000 members locally, there are over 400,000 members statewide.

Of course, the union has its own state and local newspapers.

So, while I overpaid substantially for my car, which will be embarrassing for me to admit, I will humiliate myself for the purpose of costing you at least a few sales, and you'll never even know it; but I will.

Your failure to compensate or return calls causes resentments. That's not how honest businesses operate or increase sales through 'word of mouth'.

I'll be posting this on several internet sites. Thanks for your concern.

Hold onto your money at Stevens Hyundai 112, Medford

AUTHOR: Larry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Take a good, death-lock, chock hold grip on your wallet or pocketbook if you must deal with this company. I would have thought that, with the massive amount of Hyundais on the road, the dealers would bend over backwards to attain customer satisfaction, but that just doesn't seem to be the case.

BEWARE: The salesman will have you believe that the customer is getting the car for a really good price, say $2,000 below the MSRP. However (and here's where the switch comes, so hang on! Eyes wide open and wallet locked away in a vault). The unscrupulous sales person will send you over to the unscrupulous finance guy.

He may as well be a robot who doesn't speak or a poor imitation of Ed Sullivan. Without a word after having to speak to ask for your credit card, he will begin busily typing up papers and asking you to sign them, but at no point will he say, "Here's the contract. Look it over and sign it if you agree." Words never said that cost me $2 grand. In fact, he might call it anything else, but never a purchase agreement. Otherwise, that would be the end of his job; pronto. bring in the next number cruncher.

The next underhanded, yet unethical withholding in the chain of reeling in the fish, is that you receive no paperwork when you drive away in your new car. They send that to you in the mail several daze later. The daze begins to recede into the stark reality of the real costs and monthly payment schedule.

So, what it boils down to is that while they promise you everything as a potential buyer, it's all smoke and mirrors. They rip those promises away right behind your back just when your congratulating yourself on buying a new car with a real friendly dealership. All I can say is:"What goes around, comes around." I can only wish them unhappy yet miserable lives, and a happy afterlife down below with others of their kind. Snake oil salesmen with suites.

I think you'd be smart to avoid this dealer at all costs. There are many Hyundai dealers in this area who have a much more sterling reputation than this one. Use any one of them!

As a retiree, I have all the time in the world to spread my storey and their lack of any response to date, other than canceling my free, trial period of XM Radio, which I can certainly live without; it was just such a petty, slimy thing to do.

Stevens Hyundai Route 112: Not illegal, simply underhanded and unscrupulous

Free 3 months XM Radio, Canceled by dealer

AUTHOR: Larry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 20, 2007

I see that your way of trying to satisfy a dissatisfied customer is by punishment and outright theft of services. I was to have received 3 months of free, XM Satellite Radio. XM just informed me that the dealer (you) had this activation turned off. This only adds to the evidence already obtained, to make yet a stronger case. All agencies and web-sites already contacted, are now receiving this additional complaint.

Hyundai 112, Hyundai Route 112, Stevens Mazda Hyundai, Deceptive sales practices

AUTHOR: Larry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 16, 2007

I had a deal on a Hyundai, 4 cyl. sonata. The price was to have INCLUDED freight, handling, taxes, and a heated front seat.

I returned the following day but decided I wanted the 3.3 liter V6 sonata instead. The salesman, Nicky W., told me I would get exactly the same deal as I had been offered on the 4 Cylinder, but the cost would be $2,300 more.

Since I trusted him, I failed to question the financial guy (Al) as to what he was doing with the numbers. I discovered too late that the deal I got was in fact a shafting.

What I got was paying the full MSRP on the V6, plus freight and handling charges, plus taxes, which came to almost $2,000 more than I had expected to pay. These are sleazy tactics at best, and I have already steered some potential buyers away from this dealership, as well as other dealers under the same owner on Route 112.

I filed a complaint with Ripoffreport.com as well as Suffolk County Consumer Affairs and the BBB. I have not heard from the dealer from my initial phone calls until today. No attempt has been made to rectify this situation or to contact me in any way. Once they completed the sale, I was as useless as a drop of sand on the beach. I avoided going to NEIL because of a similar reputation (at least from years ago) and ended up in a worse situation.
