Carsons' Restoration Services, Inc. Eric Howard Failure to Refund $5,000 Retainer Chisholm, Minnesota

I entered into a contract with Carson's Restoration Services, Inc. to finish the restoration of my 1959 Chevrolet Impala convertible.  The car was started by another shop in Chisholm that went out of business before the car was completed.

At the time we signed the contract, neither party knew the extent of the work that remained to be done but we guessed it would be around $10,000 plus parts. We agreed that I would pay a $5,000 deposit, they would bring the car over to their shop, inspect it, give me an accurate estimate of what it would take to complete and we would take it from there.

Six weeks after cashing my check, they finally went to get the car.  A day later they told me it would cost $50-60K to finish it but that if I wanted to sell the project, they would give me $15,000 for it (Note: I had already spent over $100K on this car).

I declined their generous offer and had the car and parts picked up by a transport company.  Carson's has ignored all my requests for a refund of my $5,000 deposit.  The owner, Eric Howard, in unethical on many levels.
