I have been to the presentation for TrendWest. When I was there, they mentioned if you could not make a commitment they would send you to (a)Las Vegas or (b)San Diego if you would allow them 2 1/2 hours to hear the presentation.
I then signed a form for the get-a-way to San Diego.
First they said, Choose the date you want/contact us.
Next when you select date, you must send $95 either money order or bank certified check. (no personal checks)
When you have completed above, they have a form (giving details about date, two days stay, motel and flight expense covered, and the need to confirm the date 5 weeks prior to selected date.
They also want the signature of the friend that is traveling, too.
Now, the BAD part, when you have completed all, they call you and tell you it is "flight leaves at latest hour listed (10:00 PM) and you return earliest time (6:00 AM). There is no free shuttle, the motel is VERY POOR, and you cannot select the airport (among three local) that is done by the company. They make the offer very UGLY. "Now for additional $228 they will upgrade you. ect."

They did say, if I cancel I will have my $95 returned PLUS $80 for my trouble.

Casablanca Express is the nations premier promotional
travel company. Founded in 1980, over 1 million people have traveled utilizing
Casablanca Express promotional travel certificates. All Casablanca Express promotional travel certificates
clearly explain what is included in the offer (i.e., type of accommodations,
flight itineraries, etc.) and clearly explain conditions for travel (arrival
days, advance notice, etc.). Upgrades over and above the original offer are
available but are completely optional. Generally, inquiries arise from those who have not fully
read and understood what is included in their certificate and/or have not
followed instructions.
We would like to hear from you and assist anyone who is:
1) Having difficulties redeeming a Casablanca Express promotional certificate per its terms and conditions,
2) Has experienced rude, unpleasant, or unprofessional behavior from a Casablanca Express employee.

When dealing with Casablanca express it is a promotional Travel Co. They make their money by upselling you. If they book you on Southwest you can change the flight times yourself at no charge after Casablanca confirms your flight. Most of the cirtificates that they issue are discarded. Those cirtificates you get for attending a timeshare presentation or test driving a new car are almost worthless.
You can get a 4 day off peak cruise for 2 (inside cabin ) for $5! The Cert holder must pay for port taxes upfront. Call Casablanca or Holiday Travel of America and ask how much it is to buy 50 certificates!

How can you call this a "scam"? You said you got a check for $175 (everything you paid them and more). That's more than a fair deal! Sure, they weren't offering you a very good service in exchange for your money, but if you're unhappy with a product or service and you receive a full refund without any hassle, then that's no scam.
