Wow.
This response is so over the top.
You accuse the board of being morally bankrupt ?, judges who are immoral because they final cats from breedig programs YOU deem unworthy , Persian breeders of poisoning their cats in order to achieve a win, breeds with genetic defects, the "look alike" situation and oh yea imply that Ocicat breeders have a "vested interest" in keeping the Bengal out of CFA.

I show both CFA and TICA and the Bengal is no more my competition than a Siamese or any other cat being exhibited. Ocicats and Bengals have TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STANDARDS. You chastise people on this list for this discussion, that more than a few are tired of reading and/or deleting. However you contribute to it by demanding that you have to be listened too because you show CFA and then go on to insult and slander just about everybody.

I am not lacking in ethics or morals and I don't appreciate the name calling and blanket statements you are making. Let's enter into a discussion like adults and stop the name calling. No one is asking that you or anyone else agree with their experiences with this breed but denigrating them for voicing their opinion is not a way to move a conversation forward.

Hope everyone else realizes you have no vested interest in the results.
I don't think it was very wise for an Ocicat breeder to bring up "vested interest" in this discussion.

I don't breed any spotted breed. I've never participated in TICA in any way. I've been exclusive to CFA since I first saw an article in Cat Fancy about the Siamese (by Betty White) back in the early 90s and started stalking them at CFA shows. I've been very active in CFA shows being a member of 6 clubs and a licensed master clerk. So if you don't want to hear from non-CFA people, fine with me, but then you have to hear from me, an active show producing club member of CFA.

For many years, I was adamantly opposed to Bengals because I thought it was wrong to create wild-domestic hybrids. While people had the right to do it, I thought CFA should not accept them because CFA should take the moral high ground. Then I realized how morally bankrupt the board was in its handling of the lookalike issue, and started thinking about the other morally bankrupt situations with other breeds that CFA allows to persist.

We accept several breeds that are based on genetic defects that anyone with morals would not accept, we have breeders in CFA who don't give a d**n about the health issues inherent in their lines who keep using those lines because they produce winning cats, we have exhibitors who give ....... arsenic.....to their Persians to hold their coat, the judges know about it and still use those exhibitors&# 39; cats,

I could go on and on about all of the immoral things that.... CFA turns a blind eye toward. So who the heck are we to claim any piece of the moral high ground?

I do believe the board is right to try to solicit the opinions of the clubs at the annual. If the board just flat out changed their policy and did something that people don't want, as they have done so many times before, it would be disastrous for CFA and I'd be right there screaming about it.

This is something the clubs have to discuss. And I hope while discussing it that people drop the "we' re holier than thou" hypocrisy and consider the merits of the cats. We are cat fanciers, not judges of morality in others.

Mon Feb 18, 2013 5:51 pm (PST) .

It seems some people are confused about my comment agreeing with ----. I too do not feel that the entire CFA organization is morally bankrupt.

Yet the very same people who have advocating using only the lowest common denominator to "judge" Bengal breeders do not want to use their own standards for judging ALL breeders, exhibitors, judges and board members. In any organization, especially where there is competition, someone is always going to yell foul play and there is always the "Good Ole Boys Clique" .

You simply need to accept the good with the bad, but not lump everyone into the same manure bucket, especially those who seem to feel they are way above it!!
