CcBill After I cancelled monthly billing did not stop! Internet Internet
I subscribed to a website that I found on Google.
I knew I was in for trouble when the only choice was:
"one month recurrent billing" - that "can be cancelled at any time"
I wanted to check out the web site so I signed up.
I should have known better when I saw ccBill was the billing company! I thought I would beat them at their game - I had a plan!
Immediately after signing up I went to the ccBill support page where you can "cancel a subscription"
A few hours later I received an email from ccBill confirming my subscription.
(I should have waited for that before I cancelled).
I filled in the info required and the program confirmed I had cancelled. I did this in case I forgot to cancel later on. I should have printed the page - but I thought I would get an email confirming the cancellation. Of course then I forgot all about it.
Two months later I noticed they had billed me again, and on checking my bank statement, I found yet another debit for the month before. I asked the bank to reverse the charges but they would not help. They eventually sent me some documents that ccBill had faxed showing that I had signed up for recurrent billing!
The document contained the transaction ID number that you need if you want to do a cancellation. So I went to the "cancel a subscription" page again and filled in the form and got the same confirmation.
This time - some hours later I got an email from ccBill confirming my cancellation!
I wrote a reply to ccBill complaining of their service.
They replied asking for "proof that I had cancelled earlier" - they knew darn well that I did not have any proof!
Their software is deliberately set up to prevent cancellation before one month.
They know the banks won't help if the customer has no proof.
This scam must be making ccBill many millions of dollars every year. The sooner they are put in prison - the better. I'm now going to write to the FBI to make a formal complaint and to any other consumer advocate who will listen.
