They will post consumer complaints that are proven to be lies. All they want is businesses to join BBB and pay them a fee so they can help the business be better. We have been in the construction business for over 10 years with no complaints because we always take care of our customers. One wacko posted a complaint against our business through Central Virginia BBB.  We had already given this person their all of their money back as it was clear to us they were deranged and we wanted to distance ourselves from them as quickly as possible. 

The BBB contacted us. We showed them the complaint was a lie and provided documentation to prove it. Well the Central Virginia BBB does not care if the complaint is a lie they will post it regardless and try to EXTORT money from the business so you can be accredited.  (If you pay us we'll change your grade yada yada)

Why any business would pay these scumbags a penny is beyond me. Their ratings service is a 100% joke. The only people they are interested in protecting is themselves and lining their pockets with money from small businesses. NEVER believe that a BBB rating has any value or legitimacy. It is 100% bought and paid for and 100% garbage.

You are absolutely correct about the BBB. We had the very same experiences. We had 2 complaints that were unjustified, about our business (out of over 100,000 transactions!) and the BBB decided to close the complaints as unresolved because the consumer wouldn't agree to the compromise. (We did try to compromise just to get rid of the problem even though we had no fault in the matter just unreasonable customers...I truly believe just wanted to get out of paying for something.) It tarnished our reputation as we should have an A+ being in business as long as we have with so many customers and so few complaints. But now we have a B rating and, of course everyone can see the details of the complaints which are lies. But people that don't know about the BBB trust them and I'm sure it has ;lost us some business. I am still trying to talk some sense into them. When I compare our BBB report to other big box stores I notice that they may have hundreds of complaints but you can't read any details of them and they STILL may have an A rating. It infuriates me!!!! Good luck to you. I hope together maybe we can all make a difference and perhaps get them to at least admit that they are not God.
