Centura College Beta-Tech Racist, Homophobic, Undereducated, Sexist, Manipulative, Underpaying Richmond, Virginia

Working for this place was an exercise in futility. They push all the employees, especially admissions, to lie to the prospective students and tell them the certificates and "degrees" there will transfer or be recognized by employers. They won't. In fact, 95% of the students will be laughed at when they apply anywhere for anything and use the word "Centura" on their application. Admissions is also instructed to lie to the students and inflate the potential earnings for each career field by at least 25%, 50% in most cases. The head of the school, Antoinette Bennett, is openly disdainful of most of the staff. She wouldn't know what the word "disdainful" meant however because she has a degree from a school much like Centura, a degree that she earned by buying it. The entire staff dislikes her and before you think that is an exaggeration, think again. The staff turnover in 2010-2011 was/is about 50% of the full time staff. The staff that Bennett hires tends to be predominately black and female, basically her own. There are no men whatsoever in any of the so called "exempt" positions, salaried as it were. The only asian employee was run off several months ago by bogus rumors started by Bennett herself. Many of the staff have heard her openly state that she hates white people, but she keeps a token white employee right underneath her, a white-trashy lady who doesn't even have a bachelors degree yet is in charge of the entire staff save Bennett herself.

How about pay? How about 13 to 15 an hour for people with graduate degrees? Adjuncts at real colleges make more. Most of the medical instructors are lucky to have finished a certificate program, much less have anything more than an associates degree. There are a handful of good employees working in the building most of whom are in the Education department under the only good salaried employee, the DOE.  The student services is a joke. No businesses will hire graduates from the school, much less students. The student body has shrunk over the past 2 years, mainly under Bennett's watch and that's no surprise to anyone who works there either.

Bottom line: avoid this place like AIDS.
