I received a quote on-line from the company. The next day, a representive called me back and we discussed the moving date and the items to be moved, in great detail.
Per the discussion, a time and date was set and agreed upon. When the day arrived, the company was more than 8 hours late. In the interim, I called and (at first) diplomatically inquired about the designated driver's where abouts. They were extremely apologetic.
Once they arrived they loaded the truck and charged me a different amount that what was initially quouted and listed on their data sheets. I hesitantly paid for 2 reasons: 1 - It was 3am by the time they finished loading the truck. 2 - I had to report to work the next day, in another state. I was in a no win situation, I thought.
Once I paid and just as the drivers were walking out of the door, they demanded a tip. I was furious. I had already paid those guys money that wasn't budgeted and they had the audacity to demand more. I told them no and literally forced them out.
The 2 drivers got into a fight with 2 other tennants who were also moving. It was a mess, a living nightmare. I couldn't believe that after all of that planning and preparation, that I made, that things actually turned out that way.
April 4, 2003 (aproximately 4 months after the above mentioned careless event), I called the toll free number to request the delivery of my storage and low and behold, there was a voice mail, which informed callers that the company is closed and to leave a message, and that someone would return the call. My heart fell through the floor.
I paid them $2,500.00 on the day of pick up. Three months, I had continued to pay the monthly fee of $220. The first month was free. The final quoted amount is $2,723.00.
At this time, I've left several messages and have yet to hear back from anyone. Actually, I'm not expecting to. I have also contacted the Bankruptcy Court at 954-769-5700 to find out if they have filed Bankruptcy and they have not. I then contacted the Secretary of State at 850-245-6500 and discovered that the company is still active. They have until May 1st to report status again.
At this point, I want my refund and my storage...NOW!
