I opened a Basic savings/checking account with Charter one Bank in Toledo Ohio ( 5072 Monroe St Toledo, OH 43623 ) ... that i planned on using for Internet purchases only, so as not to put my main banking account information from another Banking Company, online for hackers to access. ( WARNING TO CONSUMERS.. Don't use your main bank account online. Open a separate account from a separate company )

The account at Charter One Bank was opened with a $400.00 CASH deposit. They offered a debit card and online account access as many banks do. Several days after opening the account, I logged into the online banking system they offer and noticed the $400.00 CASH deposit i made was not availible. Only a portion of the deposit was availible. At this point, absolutely no transactions have been made on this account other then the deposit i made to open the account because i haven't even recieved my debit card in the mail yet.

They showed two categories on the account... Availible and non-available .. ( I dont remember the exact wording they use for the two categories, but im sure you all understand what im saying ) ... So. as anyone would do, I called the bank (local branch. Not the corperate office) ... to ask them about the balance. They Said a portion of my deposit was moved to the Non-availible category until the check i deposited was cleared. As you can imagine the next statement i made to them was.. "Mam.. i deposited Cash" The woman i was talking to proceeded to ignore the fact that i made a CASH deposit and basically said. "you have to wait 5 days for the CASH to clear"

The bank employee and i went back and forth several times discussing the issue, but no matter how many times i said "I DEPOSITED CASH" she refused to correct it. In my fristration, I ended the phone conversation, then waited 5 days and went back to check the balance. At this point the full $400.00 was moved to the Availible category.

Three days later, I went to the online banking site to simply check it out and learn the functionallity of the site and Noticed my deposit was again divided into two categories. $245.00 of the $400.00 CASH DEPOSIT was moved into the non-available category... I was confused because there has been NO transactions made on that account, other then the deposit. I didnt even have the debit card yet at this point. The employee said she would check it out and contact me later. They sent me an email a few minutes later with a 40 foot long description of their company policy that answered absolutely nothing.

A few days later i check the account again. The amount in the non-available category had changed to $136.49 and the available category showed 236.51 (still totaling $400.00 because i haven't used the debit card ) ... I checked it again a few days later and found the full amount of the deposit moved back to the available category...

Soon after, i used the debit card for an online purchase of $134.00... Then checked my account a few days later to verify that the purchase I made was correct. It showed the $134.00 purchase i made, and it also showed an extra $134.00 moved over to the non-available category. Knowing i made a CASH deposit and i waited the 5 days for that CASH i deposited to be cleared.. (laughs)... I called the bank AGAIN to ask them why they paid the online purchase i made, and also took another $134.00 from the available category and moved it to the non-available category...

The employee told me "We have to hold a matching amount of the purchase i made to insure there is enough money in my bank account to cover the purchase".... I laughed at her and said... AGAIN... " I DEPOSITED CASH " AND !! there is enough money in my account because YOU PAID THE BILL for the online purchase I made... So why are you holding an equal amount of MY OWN CASH MONEY... that has been cleared... to insure I have enough funds to cover the purchase that has already been paid ! ...

Over and over her and i discussed the issue.. I repetitively said " I deposited $400.00 CASH... then bought something with MY CASH that was LESS then the amount of CASH in my account... Why are you holding More of MY CASH to COVER the CASH in MY OWN ACCOUNT ? as if it was a check that needed to be cleared first.

No matter what i said. The woman kept repeating what the company she works for trained her to say, like a broken robot with a faulty circuit... so.. i called the main corporate office and basically got the same run around.

To make a LONG story short.. This happen almost every time i made a purchase with my debit card... and also during the times i didnt purchase anything at all, the amounts in the Available and Non-available categories kept bouncing back and forth.

The last two transactions i made with Charter One Bank happened as follows.. I purchase something online... Charter One Bank made a mistake and sent a double payment for the purchase i made.. Not knowing this yet. I purchased another item online and as a result of Charter One Bank sending a double payment for the previous purchase i made. There wasn't enough money to cover the latest purchase and I was Nailed with endless overdraft fee's that in the end, Totaled $500.00

I contacted Charter One Bank endless times and they refused to correct it. They talked to me like i was a cock roach. They didn't even say im sorry..

In a case of a SAVINGS ACCOUNT... Not a loan...
Isn't it OUR MONEY..... in THEIR bank that keeps them in Business ? Isn't it OUR money they are using to Loan other people so they can charge interest.
Without OUR money they wouldn't exist. Why do they talk to US as if WE work for them... ???

Listen up people.. There is 301,139,947 (million) people in the United States.. If we ALL stand up and say NO MORE !!!

These organized criminal establishments we call "BANKS"
Will Have to stop their crooked ways of business..

STAND UP ---- AND YELL.... NO MORE !!!

IF you DO nothing...... Nothing will get fixed.
