Check Processing Bureau Enforcement Division Fake unpaid checks New York New York

I received a letter from this company stating that I had a returned check ($207.64) unpaid from my financial institution. It also went on saying that check fraud is a crime in the state of FL and that this company exposes the possibility of civil and criminal action. It goes on saying that they have made numerous attempts to contact me and were unsuccessful. And it goes on saying that this is my last opportunity for amicable resolution and that the only way to avoid any action would be an immediate payment. It was written by a Amy Summers (ext 109) at the company listed above. They also wrote at the top of the letter "Jarman Shoe Corp 672". We do have this company here in the city I live in but neither my husband and I have been there in YEARS.

So! I call my bank and ask them to look in the system for a check that came back unpaid and they couldnt find anything with this amount. He asked me to read the letter off to him and I did, meanwhile he is looking this company up and informed me that there have been NUMEROUS reports saying this was a fruad and NOT to send them money.

My husband and I are still up in the air about whether or not to forget it or do some legal action. Hope this helps to anyone! I would have NEVER thought this would happen to me!
