Today, March 26, 2014 the price of gas advertised on the sign stated 2.699 for regular "Cash or Chevron Credit Card" and made no notice that using any other credit card was additional.  After filling up with $53.25 worth of gas, I noticed they charged me $3.779 per gallon.  I complained to the store clerks and they stated that it is what it is!  I surely won't be back to this station, espcially since its new ownership continues to rip off its customers of 15 years.  I believe this to be false advertising and something should be done about it.  It is bad enough they are about 10 cents higher than everyone else, then they need to rip you off another 8 cents per gallon.

I guess for people that can't comprhend the meaning of the sign

ITS NOT THAT WE CAN'T COMPREHEND THE MEANING OF THE SIGN...the problem is the sign is so small no one can see it until the damage is done. Laws protect large corporations not the common people !!!

Common

AUTHOR: SocialAmateur - ()

This is very common now.  It was all over the news last year that companies could now charge more for credit card / debit card purchases (they are charged by the credit card companies for accepting them).

I guess, for people who can't comprehend the meaning of the sign...

AUTHOR: Ken - ()

They should also state you can't use Visa, Amex, Mastercard, debit card or any others I may have forgotten.

What's NOT to understand about the verbiage of the sign?  Most people would understand it, but not liberals.

"..sign stated 2.699 for regular "Cash or Chevron Credit Card" and made no notice that using any other credit card was additional.  After filling up with $53.25 worth of gas, I noticed they charged me $3.779 per gallon."

However, a difference in price of $1.08/gallon is W-A-Y too much.  ($3.779-$2.699) Report this to your states authorities.

Assumption.

Ok so your first clue SHOULD have been the "Cash or Chevron card" price. Second, they PCI or "PAYMENT CARD INDUSTRY" has pretty much forced the consumers into being comfortable just swiping thier credit/debit card. YOU as a consumer THINK its the same as cash. But it is NOT!!!! The fact of the matter is that the PCI has raised the rates that merchants have to pay because YOU do not pay with cash. Those addition costs are then passed down to the consumer. You are assuming that your gasoline purchase is ONE transaction. But its actually sold PER gallon and rated as such. Yes its crappy. The PCI has merchants over a barrel. The merchants CAN NOT just eat those costs. They wouldnt be in business if they did so, they have to pass those additional costs onto YOU the consumer.

Had you stopped at a bank or atm and got cash you would have paid the CASH price. You did not do this. Heres a little tip for you that MAY help you in the future. Most convenece store clerks fell the same way YOU do about the price. They can not change the price, but you CAN buy a snack or soda and request CASH BACK, then pay for your gas with the cash they give you. I have run across this in many states and MOST of the clerks dont mind doing this.
