We were looking for a security camera system and found chicagohidef-videosurveillance.com. The site appeared to be legit adn talking with Steve seemed knowledgable but now looking back they were generic answers and throwing out buzz words. My fault for not knowing what to ask ahead of time. He gave the impression the company has been around for a long time specilaizing in video surveillance camera systems and closed circuit televison and they are an integrator etc, etc.
I started to be suspicious when he had to refer someone else to call me to answer questions specific about the system, should he be knowledgable doing this for many years? Then whoever called seemed like they knew the product but when asking questions about the company and references he started to stumble. I forgot to write down the name on the caller ID but it was another company name. [continued below]....
I had a gut feeling something was not right. I called Illinois Secreatary of State, after long holds, and found Chicago Hi-def, Chicago High Definition or variations of Chicago + Video Surveillance, no company existed. Searching under Steve, Stephen, Steven etc Young. No Steve Young related to anything close to video surveillance. I called City of Chicago on Friday to see if they have anything with a business license at the 1632 S. Indiana address and they couldn't find anything. They looked something else up and then said that is a residential address.
So I started digging online. It appears the Steve Young lives or lived in Glen Ellyn recently and does websites and search engine marketing. If he has been doing this, where did all this experience come from? Makes me think the marketing is just for Google ratings to dupe victims in going with them.
Not exactly sure what scam they are trying to pull. I think there is another company or person that may have a bad reputation and they are trying to re-market themselves with smoke and mirrors. Lie after lie I caught Steve in that the internet revealed was BS. A friend looked up the domain chicagohidef-videosurveillance.com and found that it wasn't registered till April 18th 2013 and he is registered in Warrenville IL. Explains the phone number descrepencies, another red flag on his so called BS experience in the business. He is a buzz word con man. He knew what to say to "sound" knowledgable but far from it.
No sample videos on the site was another red flag. No samples from installations? hmmmmm. Just stock photos and a bunch of text. There maybe a way to findout if the text is plagerized. I truly don't believe it is him.
Stay away! Don't get suckered because he is on Google. Find someone that has been around for many years and check their incorporation with the State. If I remember the name of the other company I think he is covering for I will re-post it. Please do your due diligence. I am glad I went with my gut before I lost money.
Anyone that knows how to research on the internet better than I can, please update more information!
