China Star Buffet Stale food, rude management, low quantity of each dish, grossly overpriced Torrington Connecticut

This "buffet" lures customers in with 40% and 45% off coupons in a local circular and the glossy photos hide what is undoubtably the worst Chinese buffet establishment I have ever had the displeasure of being in.

A sparsly-populated parking lot should have indicated something at the beginning but heartened by the advertisement and promise of 40% off my family and I went in anyway.

Our first impressions were of an unnaturally quiet and listless atmosphere promply followed by a disinterested manager literally throwing our cutlery on the table upon seating us. We then picked up a plate and immediately were dismayed by the apparent lack of food. The manager, clearly reading this dismay falsly proclaimed "more food is being made," of which we never saw.

Each dish looked as though it had been there for a considerable time, was dried up and little of it. There were some exceptions to this of course but not many.

Dessert yeilded more unpleasant surprises with the staff choosing to clean the ice cream machine during business hours and thus putting it out of commission leaving the dessert selection relegated to a scattering of stale and generally unpleasant cake dishes.

When the check was presented we found out that since the 40% ad had been published the buffet had been put up in cost by $1 per person clearly to hedge against this loss - and one cannot wonder if the minimal food was also part of this strategy.

We asked for the manager and voiced our dissatisfaction to which there was no apology, no empathy and absolutely no attempt to edify what were evidently very unhappy customers. The manager did say he would take an additional 10% off the bill, but like his promise of "more food" this was not fulfilled and we were left having to pay the full amount for an appalling culinary experience.

To anyone reading please don't waste you time, money or anything else on China Star Buffet. Go to the vastly superior (((competitor's name redacted))) across town.

sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome.
