My mother was recently wrongfully terminated at a company she worked nine years at. She never called in went to work sick and worked every holiday if it was required of her. She recently was terminated for what the company said she broke company policy which was later determined false. She was fired by her marketing manager because he had been bullying, threatening, and degrading her as a human being.

She tried multiple times to get help from HR with no resolution to the problem it only made it worse, he told her call who you want noone will listen im in charge. For two years he humiliated her put her down made her afraid of him. She was the manager and she did her job good never failed an audit never missed days barely even took her vacation. Worked on her days off called her job even from home to make sure everything was OK yet he continued harassing her. Threatening her all the time if she didn't like it join the unemployment line, telling her maybe as a woman she could not handle the store eventhough her store was top ranked in her region for always getting 100% on audits mystery shoppers going above and beyond to achieve customer satisfaction meeting her sales quota above expectation. Nine years she worked for Irving now Cirkle K. She was never written up except for the one her boss made up accusing her of throwing a tyred on the sales floor which she tried to fight and asked to have the video reviewed which he refused. She was simply asking another manager why is her boss taking inventory to another store after he just threatened to write her up for those items tthat if he took them she would not be compliant with her plan o gram.

He was cruel he treated her with no respect degraded her to the point of humiliation she wield come home , crying everyday she became depressed and started to put herself down. She seeked help from her company from H R there is no rule in company handbooks or even seminars on how to treat this kind of abuse, this type of treatment is verbal abuse it is just as bad as sexual harassment and it is happening everyday to people. This kind of abuse affects people long term it is a form of abuse and it needs to stop zero tolerance just like in schools. Kids have committed suicide because of this kind of treatment what makes it ok in the workplace? He verbally abused her every chance he had in hopes she would quit but she didn't she kept doing her job the,way she was required regardless the abuse until he,realized she was not going to quit he fired her.

Now my mother is a 54 year old woman that is now unemployed it is hard enough in this economy to get a job in this economy never mind being her age she had a stable job that she worked hard for and because that man who was allowed to bully her and verbally abuse her just because he could , maybe he didn't like her whatever the reason this type of abuse is happening to more workers out,there on a,daily basis and employers are doing nothing to stop it. This abuse has caused her to feel so low And worthless and incapable two years of this abuse causes people to not be able to move on as a normal person would.

This man not only treated her like this he also did nepotism with several of his employees such as his trainer and other Managers who hired their own children as not workers Assistant Managers therefore giving other employees an unfair advantage to advance within the company. He also hired his own Landscaping company tio.do.all the landscaping for his district without even consideration of other local business that have serviced these lawns forever. He tried to hide the fact it was his company with his son running it. My mother complained.about the landscaping unaware it was his company.made a complaint to the landscaper when her boss found out he yelled at her and informed her any problems he would take care of it. He also stated to her that if were weeds growing and she failed due to the weeds he once again threatened her job stating of my boss asked me why you failed it's not.coming on me it's on you she would go out there as a Manager picking weeds that was the landscapers responsibility in fear of being fired. During the summer season several other stores complained about the performance of the landscaper and the company.viewed all the properties two of them we're destroyed, the company was fired and held responsible for the damages. Her manger then asked his store trainers son to fix the properties so that his company would not have tio past another company. The store trainer.' s son was in. the process of bring transferred tio.another store as his mother hired him.as her assistant which is definatly.against company policy he fixed both lawns and now was seeking payment.

After several months he was not paid so they threatened to file a, lawsuit tio.collect.payment he responded.with how about I get you.your own store. He is currently the store manager at the store that used tio be run by my.mother. He also removed company.equipment fire personal use such.as A snow blower and lead blower almost $4,000 in equipment. Hedid what he wanted because he had my mother afraid too breathe wrong around him.

She seeked help to resolve this from her employer is that not what Human Resources was ,, created to ensure workers are treated fairly and feel safe in their work enviroment. she has worked hard all her life to now loose everything she has worked hard for if this situation would have been stopped she would still be employed, now she is having emotional problems has no confidence and feels worthless she has made statements that she wished she could die because she feels incapable of getting a job because her age and most importantly she went from a strong woman who always worked harder because she had confidence to a,woman so hurt just as someone who has experienced any type of abuse.

Please this has not only happened to my mother, which all of this has taken a toll on the whole family trying to just help her emotionally & financially, this is happening to people everyday and it is going unrecognized and employers Are not taking action of this kind of abuse in the, workplace. I ask of everyone out there who has maybe experienced such abuse, help me to make employers be responsible for this kind of abuse make people aware of this kind of abuse and make,employers take action on how to handle this in the workplace, what can be done. Please help your fellow coworkers that maybe experiencing the, same treatment but is too ashamed or embarrassed to say anything. Noone deserves to be, treated in this,manner or even be subjected to that type of abuse in the workplace just because,employers do not address this kind of behavior. Mom i love you and am proud of everything you have achieved in life and taught me you have to work hard no short cuts. For everytime i needed you you were there this is for you and for everyone else that has been through such treatment. Please sign this petition and put an end to such abuse it can happen to anyone I hope to stop this from happening to anyone as i see the results of such abuse. i cant even take her to therapy because she has no insuran. This abuse needs to stop it is unfair and inhumane and these companies need to be held responsible for the actions they allowed upper management to continue to ignore the situation. My mother has lost everything her home her furniture, credit ruined for not being able to pay her bills, and continually cries as her Unemployment will not last forever she has applied for over 100 jobs and got four responses. Next she will loose her car and she will not have a home once it runs out and will be homeless. She has worked her entire life two three jobs to make ends meet she always made sure she had a, stable job and agree made sure she had a place of employment and made this job her career to ensure stability until her retirement. More than anything she lost her dignity that is something they can never give her back.

I see this was in New Hampshire; when I worked for Irving/Circle K I was in Maine, and this is the sad reality of things.  Keep in mind this is as a Canadian company and almost by policy they treat their American employees like crap.  My store was up near the Canadian border so we would sometimes have the corporate types visit for an "American take on things" and they would openly mock how much more the Canadian employees get paid and how they get benefits and we don't.  Basically we're expendable to them, and they don't have to answer to anyone because it's a foreign company...them's the breaks I guess.
