Citifinancial did such stunningly ugly thing to me today.  I have paid auto payments to them for about two years with a good performance history.  I recently lost my job, so when my November 19 2009 payment came due, I called to explain my situation and made a partial payment. 


Today, December 5 2005, Citifinancial called an acquaintance of mine inquiring about my financial circumstances!  What was so stunning about that call is that the person is not one of the several people that Citifinancial has as my personal/personal references on my account.  This person that they called is a very casual acquaintance with whom I shared internet music and exchanged emails!  Also, this person they called and I have not corresponded for years!  I learned of this when my old friend called to tell me that he had received a very strange call regarding me from Citifinancial. 


I immediately started calling Citi at every number I could find.  I spoke to several agents, all of whom responded in very guarded ways when I explained my concern that Citi was apparently calling people that I had never given as a reference and sharing with them my personal financial situation.  The most 'forthcoming' of these Citi employees finally explained to me that "We have our methods of gathering information" in response to my question of how in the world could they contact a non-business and not even current acquaintance of mine - by phone, nonetheless!


How in the world would Citi learn how to contact a casual email friend of mine and then actually call them and share its concern that my payment was past due from Nov 19 [today is 12-5] when I had never volunteered that person as a reference?  Why would Citi choose such punitive and embarrassing action to a customer like me who has been consistent and accessible? 


During my phone call I was lobbed from one "Supervisor" to another.  This would happen when I pushed for information as to how a casual acquaintance would be harrassed by Citi about my personal business.

Citifinancial Bad Busines Practices

I was duped by this company as well.  In fact after 5 years, they still owe me $1,900.00 refund for money stolen from my escrow account with them. 


I have a hugh file filled with correspondence to this company.  Most of it, they were nasty and not willing to listen or work with me. 


What they owe me for is overcharging me for mortgage payments, homeowners insurance payment, resulting in cancellation of my insurance and payment my automobile insurance premiums out of my Escrow account. 


My Automobile insurance from my Escrow account???  They had no right to do that.  And calls and emails to them were not well received.  I had been hung up on, bounced around to different departments, put on hold for God knows how long and then hung up on, before I could speak to a Supervisor/Manager as promised.


I finally sent a copy of my complete file (faxed it) to the then President of Citifinalcial (Mr. Prinze or Prince), who has since either left the company or was fired (I think he was fired for wrongful acts of some sort).  I got a very nasty call from someone at Citifinancial tho, so I knew I touched a bad nerve in someone there.


To this day, I still am out this money.  My only, I was wise enough to get as far away from them as I can and I investigate any business dealings, afficilates and absolutely steer clear of them and any related business they are with. 


In reality, this company is destructive to the unsuspecting and anyone who does business with them, I would do a line-by-line inspection of any bills from this complany, before you pay your bill to them.


I will do all I can to campaign again this company, to warn unsuspecting honest, hardworking people to do what they can to stay away from this company.  I have a hugh file to back up what I've just shared, so I'm not blowing smoke. Thank you.
